Making a Sprite Disappear in Lua
            Asked 2020-Aug-24 at 19:57

New to Lua and Love2D here! I'm trying to finish a final project for this online course I'm taking, and I want to know how I could make a sprite disappear. Currently, I have it so that the player is in one class, and anything to do with the map (so tiles and background) in another. I want to write so that if the player hits a specific tile, then that tile disappears, and a counter goes up. I know that there was a similar question about this regarding the cs50 gamedev course with balls, but I didn't understand much of the code, so I'm hoping someone could help me. My map.lua looks like this:

It seems your code handles collisions and I'm assuming it works, my guess would be to replace the SHUSHI2 cell you're colliding to the EMPTY cell value in the grid so that it would be destroyed. Suppose you want to destroy a SUSHI2 block when you're falling, you could go with this solution:

            Install sushi2

Since this project is written in TypeScript, transpiling to JavaScript is necessary. Package from npm repository contains transplied JavaScript, so simply installing them is enough. If you intend to modify code, download and build. Sushi2 depends on node-opencl for GPU computing which allows dramatically faster computation. This dependency is optional, so even the installation of node-opencl fails, Sushi2 can work without it. In my environment (Ubuntu 14.04 + NVIDIA CUDA 7.5), installation with node-opencl requires additional environment variables.
For simply using the library, download the js file from releases page.
