ImportError: No module named 'config.settings'; 'config' is not a package
            Asked 2019-Jul-03 at 21:49

I'm trying to get my cookiecutter-django app running under Apache with mod_wsgi installed via pip.

            python3 manager.py runserver works.

But after running it in Apache, I got an error saying Module config not found. So I pip install config. (It is not installed on my development system.)

That put a config.py file in my /usr/local/pulseenv/lib/python3.5/site-packages.

That file had various syntax errors which I fixed. The errors were due to changes between python 2.7 and 3.5 as far as I can tell.

But now I get this error and I'm stuck where to go from here:

Different behavior between Jupyter kernel and Python
            Asked 2019-Mar-04 at 09:56

I've been working on a Jupyter notebook on my local, and have recently migrated it to an Ubuntu Linux VM located on a remote server. I've install Python and Jupyter on the remote server successfully, and am accessing it via SSH portforwarding. I have been able to run other scripts and files successfully, but the script have been halting in a very strange way.

I have a large-ish pandas DataFrame (40k rows x 60 columns) that I'm pre-processing to prepare for a parallel operations, so I am slicing up the DataFrame using pandas .groupby and then pairing each slice with a categorical variable using itertools.product, with mocked example below

This is an ongoing issue with Jupyter, that only occurs on Windows computers. The Github issue is tracked here:

            Pip/PyPi: python-systemd vs systemd-python
            Asked 2017-Dec-11 at 16:37

A couple of months ago, I wrote a small Python service using systemd.journal. Pip list shows that I have python-systemd (231) installed in the corresponding virtualenv.

When I just tried to install the python-systemd package, I got python-systemd (0.0.9) instead, which does not have a .journal submodule. The python-systemd documentation says the module is available from pypi as python-systemd, however it seems that it is instead available as systemd-python (now in version 234).

Does anybody know if the package name has been changed? I could not find anything in the documentation.

Yes, the name changed in September 2016:

            setup.py: change name to systemd-python

This name is unused on pypi. Let's grab it.

The first release under that name was version 232.

The README does mention this now:

The project is also available on pypi as systemd-python.

            try python3.5 manage.py runserver 0.0.0.0:8080 and add ALLOW_HOSTS=['192.xxx.xxx.xxx'] to your settings.py

python3.5 manage.py runserver 0.0.0.0:8080 will assign django to your local computer ip address, your can access django with http://localhost/ or http://your_ip_address/

with python3.5 manage.py runserver 8080 django only can be access by http://localhost/.

            Install python-systemd

You can download it from GitLab, GitHub.
You can use python-systemd like any standard Python library. You will need to make sure that you have a development environment consisting of a Python distribution including header files, a compiler, pip, and git installed. Make sure that your pip, setuptools, and wheel are up to date. When using pip it is generally recommended to install packages in a virtual environment to avoid changes to the system.
