QUESTION
I have Ruby 2.7.2 installed using rbenv, but when I run the following code:
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Aug-03 at 20:07What I want to know is, why my ruby interpreter is using libraries from version 2.7.0?
/Users/my_user/.rbenv/versions/2.7.2/lib/ruby/2.7.0/webrick/httputils.rb
This is a common source of confusion. It's just how ruby works.
- If you look inside e.g.
.rbenv/versions/2.6.3
you will find2.6.3/lib/ruby/2.6.0
. - If you look inside e.g.
.rbenv/versions/3.0.2
you will find2.6.3/lib/ruby/3.0.0
.
This directory structure has been around for a long time, since at least 1.9.3, maybe earlier.

QUESTION
When I try to install the latest ruby (3.0.0), it fails with:
ruby-build: definition not found: 3.0.0
Clearly, ruby 3 has been released more than a month ago, so I'm guessing the team is running into problems building/packaging it for Apple Silicon (M1) or no one's had the bandwidth to do so yet. How would I follow up on this?
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Feb-01 at 01:02Have you tried brew update && brew upgrade rbenv ruby-build
