I have an list of events ['one', 'two', 'three']. These events can either pass or fail. I want to build a decision tree to record the possible outcomes -- that is:

            Can't Display Message Dialog
            Asked 2018-Mar-06 at 21:54

I have a class that contains some QPushButtons and whenever I press a button, I want the program to display a message saying that the action has been carried out. So far I have tried to create a QMessageBox and call it within the button function below it but it doesn't work. I keep getting a compiler error. Here is my code and my stack trace. I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong.

The first argument of QMessageBox constructor must be a QWidget (or an instance of a subclass of QWidget), but you're passing a Ui_MainWindow object. The parent for your message box should be MainWindow.

In the setupUi() function, add self.mainwindow = MainWindow.

Then you should replace this line msgBox.information(self, 'Message', 'Data Has Been Parsed!', QMessageBox.StandardButtons) by msgBox.information(self.mainwindow, 'Message', 'Data Has Been Parsed!', QMessageBox.StandardButtons)

            Enabling & Disabling Buttons
            Asked 2018-Feb-27 at 22:37

I am developing an application in Python and I want to have a specific set of buttons set to disabled until another button is clicked first. For Example, When I press the Sim Card button, I want the Sim Report button to be set to enabled.

I have tried to implement the functionality using this solution: How to make push button immediately disabled? but it only disables the button for 5 seconds. I want to only enable a specific button when a condition has been met in a corresponding button. I do not want to generate a report unless the data has been parsed first basically.

You can enable and disable buttons by using button.setEnabled(False) or button.setEnabled(True). As for when they are enabled, just add in the two lines above in the appropriate places to trigger the buttons.

So with your example for instance, start with simReport button disabled. Then in your select_sim_data function, add generate_Sim_Report.setEnabled(True). You can implement this functionality in any methods that need to control whether a button is enabled.
