Concatenating Strings Between Columns in Pandas

Solution Kit
In Pandas, we can use the '+' operator to concatenate two or multiple text/string columns in Pandas DataFrame. When we apply this + operator on integer/numeric columns, it does addition instead of concatenate.
We can use pandas to compute string columns in small datasets and for relatively small datasets up to 100–150 rows. Series.str.cat() method used to concatenate strings in the Series using the specified separator by default. The separator is set to '' in Pandas. Using a simple ‘+’ operator, concatenating two columns of the dataframe in pandas can be easily achieved. Concatenating or join of two string columns in pandas is accomplished by the cat() function, and we can also concatenate or join numeric and string columns. Let’s see how to
- Concatenate two columns of the pandas dataframe and two string columns.
- Concatenate integer/numeric and string columns of pandas dataframe.
- Concatenate column with space in pandas.
- Using delimiter (hyphen “-“) in pandas, concatenate the columns.
- Concatenate the columns by removing leading and trailing space in the pandas dataframe.
Here is an example of how to concatenate strings between columns in Pandas:

Code
In this solution we're using Pandas library.
Instructions
Follow the steps carefully to get the output easily.
- Install pandas on your IDE(Any of your favorite IDE).
- Copy the snippet using the 'copy' and paste it in your IDE.
- Add required dependencies and import them in Python file(import pandas).
- Add parentheses at print statement(like 'print(C)').
- Run the file to generate the output.
I hope you found this useful. I have added the link to dependent libraries, version information in the following sections.

Environment Tested
I tested this solution in the following versions. Be mindful of changes when working with other versions.
- The solution is created in PyCharm 2021.3.
- The solution is tested on Python 3.9.7.
- Pandas version-v1.5.2.
Using this solution, we are able to concatenate strings between columns in pandas with simple steps. This process also facilities an easy way to use, hassle-free method to create a hands-on working version of code which would help us to concatenate strings between columns in pandas.
