QUESTION
I had a Eclipse IDE for Enterprise Java Developers 2019-12 (4.14.0) on Win 10, along with JBoss Tools 4.14.0 Final installed form the marketplace. This morning I've got an update notification in eclipse and I have accepted it without properly reading what it was about. I turned out to be an major update to version 2020.03 (4.15.0). After the update every thing seemed OK on the first sight, however when I tried to open an xhtml file it did not open?! In the eclipse log file I have found the following:

Answered 2020-Apr-16 at 16:26Looks like it's been fixed for their next release atop 2020-03: https://issues.redhat.com/browse/JBIDE-27138. You'll have to stay on 2019-12 until it's released.
QUESTION
I would like to open .vue
files as regular HTML files in Eclipse. I tried to to right click a .vue
file and then Open WithWeb Page Editor. I've also linked .vue
in the preferences as a new file association to the Web Page Editor.
Doing exactly the above steps leads to the following error after opening the file. It also throws a NullPointerException
:
Failed to create the part's controls
Is this a bug in Eclipse or am I doing something wrong?
My Eclipse version is:

Answered 2017-Mar-29 at 17:45I found out what the problem is. The Error Log
view showed more detailed information about the problem.
The HTML/Web Page Editor requires a file extension to have a valid content type. Because .vue
files do not have a predefined content type, the editor just crashes.
As a workaround, you can simply add *.vue
to the HTML content type. You can find this setting in Preferences → General → Content Types. Then add *.vue
to HTML
under Text
.
You probably also want to set the default editor for .vue
files to the HTML/Web Page Editor. You can do this in Preferences → General → Editors → File Associations
Sorry, that I cannot give out the bounty to anybody =)
QUESTION
Eclipse Platform - Version: 3.8.1, under Ubuntu 16.04
I have a webapp group of files I opened with a general Eclipse project. In here I got java and jsp files to work with.
I read that I could want to use another editor to better visualize and work with my code, so I downloaded the Marketplace and suggested plugins (Eclipse Web Developer Tools, Eclipse Plug-in Development Environment, Eclipse Java Web Developer Tools, Eclipse Java Development Tools) so I could switch to JAVA EE perspective and start the JSP Editor.
Done so, when I try to open any .jsp file I get the usual error others occurs in I paster below.
I suspect that Eclipse uses an uncorrect Java version, but can't find a way to check which it is. I read it should be in the file eclipse.ini in /usr/lib/eclipse but that file doesn't have references to anything similar (it should have a line with a -vm
, which I have none).
I don't have ideas and hope some of you can enlight me!
Here is the Eclipse error:
...ANSWER
Answered 2017-Feb-14 at 18:21I suspect the Ubuntu build is just broken if the com.ibm.icu.util.StringTokenizer
class isn't loading; it's provided by the com.ibm.icu
bundle, which is provided in the plain Eclipse Platform download.
