QUESTION
I'm trying to remove some system apps from my android smartphone to debloat it. I use the following adb command: adb shell pm uninstall package.to.remove
. But what if I will want to restore some of these apps? I can make a backup of the apk using adb pull my.package path/i/want
. Then I can restore them using adb shell pm install package.to.install
. I assume that the apps will be install as user app. So the questions are:
- Will the system apps work even if they are installed as an user app?
- Do I need to move the apks into the system partition?
- If I remove some system apps and then I update my smartphone, will it break?
ANSWER
Answered 2020-Sep-12 at 21:44If you're using pm uninstall
rather than pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.package.name
, I'm asuming that you have root access. If that's the case, then its better/safer to use pm disable
because you could enable them anytime with pm enable
. If you're talking about some "non-necessary" apps, but not a system component, then yes you can uninstall them. But be careful doing that. Do your research on the app before uninstalling them, because it could lead you into boot loop. Make sure to keep backups of your apps if possible, if something goes wrong, you could copy them back again to their directories.
If you have root privilege, then yes, copying the apps back to their original place will retain their functionality. But if you try installing them without root, just as a user or using adb install
, the apps will no longer be a system app, and most probably will be useless since they are already in the system, just disabled/uninstalled for the current user. A factory reset will reset all the apps like before. Hope this helps (:

ANSWER
Answered 2019-Sep-20 at 10:20the things you don't understand can be divide into two command group,
- rm group
/sbin/rm -fr
delete directory and files silently - mount group
/sbin/mount -t auto
mount partitions under auto configured parameters, mostly related withmtab
andfstab
you can do more research on quoted terminology above
if you cant see the rm
and mount
file under /sbin
, there are two explanation i can think of
- only app with effective root privilege can do that, and you are viewing in an app that does not holding root privilege when scanning
/sbin
.
rooting device is by placing a special binary filesu
under special dir.
app has to callexec("su")
explicitly to start a process with root privilege
so that it can delete system files, mount or umount partitions, etc. - you are viewing in a
chroot
environment, the real /sbin is outside the environment.
which is less likely to happen on your phone,
it is a way of relocating/
directory for process(and its sub-process) .
QUESTION
Is there any way to use XPath which matches on the namespace axis in SQL Server? i.e. I'm aware that SQL does not natively support this axis; but is there any query which would be functionally similar which may work?
ContextI'm hoping to write code to debloat duplicate namespaces from my XML, leaving only those declarations which exist on the root element. I've seen various other solutions for this, but all are quite painful; so I investigated alternate solutions & in doing so realised that SQL does not support the namespace axis.

Answered 2018-Aug-05 at 15:28SQL-Server's abilities to deal with XML namespaces is really - uhm - painful...
the only way I know to define namespaces just as you want them is FOR XML EXPLICIT
(unless you want to walk the string-manipulation route...)
You can create the XML you want with:
QUESTION
I'm trying to debloat Windows 10 Education by running the following commands in a powershell script. I can get the script to remove the apps for the logged in user but as soon as someone new logs in, the apps reappear.
Here is my script:
...ANSWER
Answered 2017-Aug-15 at 10:11You've got the -AllUsers
switch set on Get-AppxPackage
, but not on Remove-AppxPackage
. If you do add it to the end of each line, you should get the expected behavior. Note that I don't think you need the first AllUsers switch, but it can't hurt to keep it in (excluding that it'll probably make the commands take longer to complete.)
