            QUESTION

How do I run a Python script in PHP without using `exec()`,` system()` ...?
            Asked 2019-Apr-13 at 02:32

My LAMP server is CentOS 7.4 with Apache 2.4, PHP 5.4, and Python 3.6.

I am new to Python; I migrated from R to Python just now. I need some Python package to do statistics, and then deliver the output to PHP.

I reviewed lots of similar questions. The answers are around exec(), passthru(), system(), and shell_exec(). They are dangerous commands and should not be enabled in PHP.

In the Python official manual, "Integrating Python With Other Languages", mentioned are only two tools, ppython and PHP "Serialize" in Python. ppython seemed no longer maintained, but that's what I need, just like Rserve when I use R.

            I also read this post:

Simple and standard solution is using Socket or Webservice(API)

Now, how do I run a Python script in PHP without using exec(),system()...(maybe socket communication)?

Convert your Python script to the Django REST API, and then call it using cURL.

            Python Testing with Kill Process
            Asked 2017-May-18 at 20:59

When testing a Python script I will often use a 'raw_input()' or 'input()' as a marker in the script, and when that marker is reached do a ctrl + c to kill the process in my command prompt.

I was worried this would lead to memory leaks, this brief thread indicates it shouldn't - killing python process leads memory leak?

It is bad practice to test scripts this way? Can it lead to any negative effects?

Not sure about the leaks but I'm sure breakpoints are your friend here. In idle right click on the line you want to stop on and click set breakpoint, then clear when you're finished debugging.

            QUESTION

Does Ruby on Rails really fails on huge amount of concurrent connections?
            Asked 2017-Jan-12 at 22:52

I was using Symfony3 with PHP7 and want to explore Ruby and Ruby on Rails. My first impression was "wow".

I won't asking PHP7 vs Ruby. This is not related to that. What I am asking was stated here:

            https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/ruby-vs-php-python-simple-microservice-performance-comparison-per

Not only it's outperforming both Ruby and Python based solution it was only engine that passed 500 concurrent connections test without failing any request.

Is that true? Is Ruby or Python (but in my case only Ruby on Rails) really fails on such amount of requests?

How can I do to prevent? How does GitHub doesn't fail while they are using Rails or GitLab for instance?

Are there any other way to start RoR server for better performance?

I am building an app that will be higher usages and thinking to move from symfony3/PHP to Ruby. Am I doing wrong?

I am stuck at this point. Can't go further without knowing or understanding this subject better.
