Fixing git HTTPS Error: "bad key length" on macOS 12
            Asked 2022-Mar-29 at 17:34

I am using a company-hosted (Bitbucket) git repository that is accessible via HTTPS. Accessing it (e.g. git fetch) worked using macOS 11 (Big Sur), but broke after an update to macOS 12 Monterey. *

After the update of macOS to 12 Monterey my previous git setup broke. Now I am getting the following error message:

Unfortunately I can't provide you with a fix, but I've found a workaround for that exact same problem (company-hosted bitbucket resulting in exact same error). I also don't know exactly why the problem occurs, but my best guess would be that the libressl library shipped with Monterey has some sort of problem with specific (?TLSv1.3) certs. This guess is because the brew-installed openssl v1.1 and v3 don't throw that error when executed with /opt/homebrew/opt/openssl/bin/openssl s_client -connect ...:443

To get around that error, I've built git from source built against different openssl and curl implementations:

            1. install autoconf, openssl and curl with brew (I think you can select the openssl lib you like, i.e. v1.1 or v3, I chose v3)
            2. clone git version you like, i.e. git clone --branch v2.33.1 https://github.com/git/git.git
            3. cd git
            4. make configure (that is why autoconf is needed)
            5. execute LDFLAGS="-L/opt/homebrew/opt/openssl@3/lib -L/opt/homebrew/opt/curl/lib" CPPFLAGS="-I/opt/homebrew/opt/openssl@3/include -I/opt/homebrew/opt/curl/include" ./configure --prefix=$HOME/git (here LDFLAGS and CPPFLAGS include the libs git will be built against, the right flags are emitted by brew on install success of curl and openssl; --prefix is the install directory of git, defaults to /usr/local but can be changed)
            6. make install
            7. ensure to add the install directory's subfolder /bin to the front of your $PATH to "override" the default git shipped by Monterey
            8. restart terminal
            9. check that git version shows the new version

This should help for now, but as I already said, this is only a workaround, hopefully Apple fixes their libressl fork ASAP.

App using Realtime database not working in Romania ISPs blocked by Firebase
            Asked 2022-Mar-29 at 13:21

I'm facing a critical issue right now in Romania. So for almost 24 hours my mobile app which is using Firebase Realtime Database can't be used on some ISPs (like Vodafone, DIGI or Telekom) if you are using mobile data (4G or 5G) the app is working fine, but on Wi-fi (on these ISPs the app is getting timeout). I talked like several hours on the phone with multiple ISPs and the Firebase support (right now the app is working using DIGI, but nobody knows why). The ISPs are saying that problem is not on their end and Firebase is saying that the problem is on the ISP side. Firebase support answer:

As this has been caused by network issues, rather than Google's infrastructure, we can't do much about it from our end. I would recommend that you contact the ISP provider directly as they will be able to check deeper on their side.

As far as we can see, the multiple providers are affected by that issue. Our engineering team is already aware of that and looking for solutions. Like I said before, there is nothing we could do with the providers, but our engineers would find any suitable workaround.

So my question is: what can I do? (I saw that Firebase realtime database deployed in europe-west works) but mine is already on united states.

Is there someone having troubles like me? I tested multiple apps which I know are using Firebase and they are having the same issues, the app being unreachable over this type of network.

            Updates on the issue:

So the problem is regarding Ukraine and Russia :(. Many apps using Firebase Realtime Database are not working right now.

Below I posted a fix for this and how I handled in order to make my app functional again

So for someone who is in Europe and has the same issue like me, this is what i did.

I made a new instance of a realtime database on europe-west (because this one works on every ISP). I migrated my old database to the new one. I pushed for release a new iOS and Android build using the new database. I disabled my old instance in order to not have any syncing problems. I made all of this at night hours like 24:00.

I the morning all users would have the new update. If someone is not going to have the update until 10 AM I have set a push notification to announce this changes.

I think this gets you pretty close; might just need to adjust the various name columns and drop the extra data (I kept the grouping column).

The main idea is to recursively use pd.json_normalize with pd.concat for all availalable children levels.

EDIT: Put everything into a single function and added section to collapse the name columns like the expected output.

I would propose to take a look in the RateLimiter direction. Maybe it does not work as expected, depending on the number of requests your application does over time. From the Javadoc for Ratelimiter: "It is important to note that the number of permits requested never affects the throttling of the request itself ... but it affects the throttling of the next request. I.e., if an expensive task arrives at an idle RateLimiter, it will be granted immediately, but it is the next request that will experience extra throttling, thus paying for the cost of the expensive task." Also helpful might be this discussion: github or github

I could imaginge there is some throttling adding up or other effect in the RateLimiter, i would try to play around with it and make sure this thing really works the way you want. Alternatively, consider using Spring @Scheduled to read from your queue. You might want to spice it up using embedded JMS for further goodies (message persistence etc).

Alright, until this problem get solved, I did this trick for my project:
I shared which files I need (like datasets) with my other accounts. For this, you should:

            1. Go to your google drive (where your file is stored) then right-click on it and choose "Share"
            2. Click on "Change to anyone with the link"
            3. Copy link and open it in new window
            4. In top-right side, click on your google accounts list and select which one you need
            5. At the opened window, in top-right side click on "Add shortcut to Drive" and choose location where you want to save file in it
            6. Your file now is accessible in account you did choose

            Asked 2022-Feb-02 at 09:11

I have Android Studio BumbleBee 2021.1.1 downloaded, running on a MacBook Pro M1. When downloading Android Studio, I chose the Apple Chip option (opposed to Intel)

            I've created a Virtual Device - Android 12.0 arm64-v8a Pixel 4.

When I attempt to run the emulator it gets stuck here

            Then, it times out:

I have searched SO and other blogs and can only find outdated material based on a time in 2020/2021 when Android did not support ARM64. However, it's my understanding that this has now changed so https://github.com/google/android-emulator-m1-preview is no longer needed.

What is the correct way to run the Android Emulator on a Mac with an M1 Chip?

This is because of a root CA Let’s Encrypt uses (and Mongo Atals uses Let's Encrypt) has expired on 2020-09-30 - namely the "IdentTrust DST Root CA X3" one.

The fix is to manually install in the Windows certificate store the "ISRG Root X1" and "ISRG Root X2" root certificates, and the "Let’s Encrypt R3" intermediate one - link to their official site - https://letsencrypt.org/certificates/

The real reason is in V8 memory optimization. When you store integers - it stores the 32 bit number in place, But when you store double-number - it is stored differently (as an object) - so yValues array contains the reference but the actual value stored in heap. So in your example you just used all heap memory. To see the limit, use: console.memory and you'll see something like this:
