kandi X-RAY | hiredis Summary

hiredis is a C library typically used in Server, Runtime Evironment, Nodejs applications. hiredis has no bugs, it has a Permissive License and it has medium support. However hiredis has 1 vulnerabilities. You can download it from GitHub.

Hiredis is a minimalistic C client library for the Redis database. It is minimalistic because it just adds minimal support for the protocol, but at the same time it uses a high level printf-alike API in order to make it much higher level than otherwise suggested by its minimal code base and the lack of explicit bindings for every Redis command. Apart from supporting sending commands and receiving replies, it comes with a reply parser that is decoupled from the I/O layer. It is a stream parser designed for easy reusability, which can for instance be used in higher level language bindings for efficient reply parsing. Hiredis only supports the binary-safe Redis protocol, so you can use it with any Redis version >= 1.2.0. The library comes with multiple APIs. There is the synchronous API, the asynchronous API and the reply parsing API.

You need to call get_asgi_application before any models are imported, import chat.routing seems to trigger model imports so call get_asgi_application() before this import

WRONGTYPE Operation against a key holding the wrong kind of value

This means the key, i.e. names, has already been set, and its type is NOT a SET. You can run TYPE names with redis-cli to see the type of the key.

Also, your code has several problems:

            • redisConnect might return null pointer
            • you did not call redisFree to free the resource of redisReply in your set method
            • sadd and smembers do NOT return string reply, so you cannot get the correct reply

Since you're using C++, you can try redis-plus-plus, which is based on hiredis, and have more C++ friendly interface:

This happens because there is some problem with your build tools. Therefore,

            1. If your build tools further not answering to your problem, try to install build tools manually through this link.

            2. After that, you have to restart your PC or laptop.

            3. Then try to run your code again

I have managed to make it work.
First of all, the redisAsyncDisconnect in the pubCallback function forbid my program to send subsequent messages. This line needed to be removed.
This led to another issue as the program started hanging after the publication of the first message. That happened as the event loop will hang waiting for new events to dispatch. I needed a way to break this hang as soon as the message is published.
The way to go is to call event_base_loopbreak in the pubCallback.

            Here's the working code:

There is no official support for Redis in Windows OS.

However, Microsoft develops and maintains microsoftarchive/redis. Also it is no longer supported (older versions are availble). I had long search on this about installing version 5 in windows 10. But no luck.

Better you can go for Memurai. Memurai is 100% compatible with the Redis protocol (also supported version 5 too). It is free for development and testing.

EDIT : From Itamar comment, u can also use this as alternative for Memurai

127.0.0.1 is a loop-back address. A loop-back address connects back to the container that makes the connection. If the C++ program runs in the reader container, then redis isn't running in the same container. You need to connect to the redis container:

I am adding data to a redis stream with the data being integers or floats

Redis is a textual/binary database. Inserting an int converts it to a string immediately upon entry.

You must convert the response back to int yourself. Decode response only decodes the bytes response to str.

How to link a dynamic library in QtCreator use qmake and MinGW32?
            Asked 2020-Aug-29 at 01:21

I am trying to use hiredis and libevent in my project, I downloaded their source code and compiled them with CmakeGUI and MinGW32. Then i got the header files and those library files.

            • libevent.a
            • libevent.dll
            • libevent.dll.a
            • libevent_core.a
            • libevent_core.dll
            • libevent_core.dll.a
            • libevent_extra.a
            • libevent_extra.dll
            • libevent_extra.dll.a
            • libhiredis.dll
            • libhiredis.dll.a

Then I wrote some test programs to use these libraries, but could not link successfully The error looks like this:

Try to remove the .dll, just give the name of the lib, I mean include the lib like this :
