QUESTION
I recently upgraded all of my dependencies in package.json to the latest. I went from Angular 12.2.0 to 13.0.1 and github is now rejecting my push with the following file size error. Is there some setting I need to define in angular.json build profile that will help minimize these cache file sizes?
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Nov-24 at 16:53Make sure your .gitignore
is in the parent folder of .angular
.
In that .gitignore
file, a simple .angular/cache/
should be enough to ignore that subfolder content.

QUESTION
I have been using github actions for quite sometime but today my deployments started failing. Below is the error from github action logs
...ANSWER
Answered 2022-Mar-16 at 07:01First, this error message is indeed expected on Jan. 11th, 2022.
See "Improving Git protocol security on GitHub".
January 11, 2022 Final brownout.
This is the full brownout period where we’ll temporarily stop accepting the deprecated key and signature types, ciphers, and MACs, and the unencrypted Git protocol.
This will help clients discover any lingering use of older keys or old URLs.
Second, check your package.json
dependencies for any git://
URL, as in this example, fixed in this PR.
As noted by Jörg W Mittag:
For GitHub Actions:There was a 4-month warning.
The entire Internet has been moving away from unauthenticated, unencrypted protocols for a decade, it's not like this is a huge surprise.Personally, I consider it less an "issue" and more "detecting unmaintained dependencies".
Plus, this is still only the brownout period, so the protocol will only be disabled for a short period of time, allowing developers to discover the problem.
The permanent shutdown is not until March 15th.
As in actions/checkout issue 14, you can add as a first step:

QUESTION
Today I got the following message when I used Git + BitBucket on MacOS while pushing a new branch to BitBucket.
You are using an account password for Git over HTTPS.
Beginning March 1, 2022, users are required to use app passwords remote: for Git over HTTPS. To avoid any disruptions, change the password used in your Git client remote: to an app password. Note, these credentials may have been automatically stored in your Git client and/or a credential manager such as Git Credential Manager (GCM).'
...ANSWER
Answered 2022-Jan-31 at 09:00In my case, I used BitBucket via HTTPS and not via SSH. Therefore I had to change it.
- Follow this guide to create and add a new SSH key.
- Follow this guide to switch from HTTPS to SSH.
Unrelated and optional:
While you are at this security related task, activate 2FA in your BitBucket security settings.

I've upgraded to Electron 14, refactored my project to accomodate for the "Removed: remote module" breaking change, but I'm unable to compile it due to the following TypeScript error:
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Sep-27 at 11:31Now Electron 14.0.1 is out, and this is how I could enable remote
modules for both Main and Renderer processes (your webPreferences
settings may vary).
First, install @electron/remote
package (important: no --save-dev
, as it needs to be bundled):
QUESTION
With regard to the Log4j JNDI remote code execution vulnerability that has been identified CVE-2021-44228 - (also see references) - I wondered if Log4j-v1.2 is also impacted, but the closest I got from source code review is the JMS-Appender.
The question is, while the posts on the Internet indicate that Log4j 1.2 is also vulnerable, I am not able to find the relevant source code for it.
Am I missing something that others have identified?
Log4j 1.2 appears to have a vulnerability in the socket-server class, but my understanding is that it needs to be enabled in the first place for it to be applicable and hence is not a passive threat unlike the JNDI-lookup vulnerability which the one identified appears to be.
Is my understanding - that Log4j v1.2 - is not vulnerable to the jndi-remote-code execution bug correct?
ReferencesThis blog post from Cloudflare also indicates the same point as from AKX....that it was introduced from Log4j 2!
Update #1 - A fork of the (now-retired) apache-log4j-1.2.x with patch fixes for few vulnerabilities identified in the older library is now available (from the original log4j author). The site is https://reload4j.qos.ch/. As of 21-Jan-2022 version 1.2.18.2 has been released. Vulnerabilities addressed to date include those pertaining to JMSAppender, SocketServer and Chainsaw vulnerabilities. Note that I am simply relaying this information. Have not verified the fixes from my end. Please refer the link for additional details.
...ANSWER
Answered 2022-Jan-01 at 18:43The JNDI feature was added into Log4j 2.0-beta9.
Log4j 1.x thus does not have the vulnerable code.
QUESTION
Error message when using git push
:
Support for password authentication was removed on August 13, 2021. Please use a personal access token instead. remote: Please see https://github.blog/2020-12-15-token-authentication-requirements-for-git-operations/ for more information. fatal: unable to access 'https://github.com/codingTheWorld777/react-mini-projects.git/': The requested URL returned error: 403"***
I cannot use my token to access GitHub, so how can I push code to GitHub?
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Sep-05 at 20:46You need to create a personal access token. You can find the instructions on creating personal access token in Creating a personal access token
Make sure you keep the access token secure & secret. After that you need to replace your current saved password in the device (laptop/desktop) with the access token. In macOS you can search for Keychain and find GitHub with an Internet password and replace it with your access token. For instructions, see Updating credentials from the macOS Keychain.
In Windows, it might be Credential Manager (I'm not sure). Check this out: How to update your Git credentials on Windows

Heroku fails during build with this error
this commit is an empty commit on top of exactly a SHA that I was successful at pushing yesterday (I've checked twice now) so I suspect this is a platform problem or somehow the node-sass got deprecated or yanked yesterday?
how can I fix this?
...ANSWER
Answered 2022-Jan-06 at 18:23Heroku switched the default Node from 14 to 16 in Dec 2021 for the Ruby buildpack .
Heroku updated the heroku/ruby
buildpack Node version from Node 14 to Node 16 (see https://devcenter.heroku.com/changelog-items/2306) which is not compatible with the version of Node Sass locked in at the Webpack version you're likely using.
To fix it do these two things:
- Specify the 14.x Node version in
package.json
.
