            Python: how to merge two different netCdf filles with different spatial resolution?
            Asked 2022-Mar-30 at 15:41

            Is it possible to merge two netCDF files with different spatial resolution?

            I have two datasets.

            The first one is the ESA Land Cover dataset with a spatial resoltion of 300m as netCDF.

            The first one is the population living in Italy with a spatial resolution of 100m from WorldPop as a geoTIFF that I convert as netCDF.

            This is what I am doing

            There are many ways to do it, but probably the easiest one is by gdalbuildvrt.

            Use gdalbuildvrt - either from the command-line either from the Python library - and build a VRT dataset. Make sure the highest resolution files are listed towards the end - if there is overlapping the final dataset wins.

            Remember to use [-resolution {highest|lowest|average|user}] option.

            Once you have a composite Dataset, use gdal_translate - CLI or Python - to consolidate it to a single monolithic Dataset in your preferred format.

            Don't try to implement this yourself - it is more complicated than it might seem.

            Import large .tiff file as sparse matrix
            Asked 2022-Mar-19 at 18:59

            I have a large .tiff file (4.4gB, 79530 x 54980 values) with 1 band. Since only 16% of the values are valid, I was thinking it's better to import the file as sparse matrix, to save RAM. When I first open it as np.array and then transform it into a sparse matrix using csr_matrix(), my kernel already crashes. See code below.

            Assuming you know size of your matrix, you can create an empty sparse matrix, and then set only valid values one-by-one.

            As you've already noticed, the version available via apt(-get) is <6 which explains the error. One way around it is to compile PROJ from source. For instance:

            The only GDAL I made work on Windows 10 was from the Unofficial Windows Binaries for Python Extension Packages by Christoph Gohlke Here

            Just for curiosity the GeoPandas project also recommend that unofficial repository for Windows.

            You could pass the command as argument and then invoke "$@" inside the shell. I prefer mostly single quotes.

            I have built a tiny web app in Vaadin 8 and migrated to Vaadin 14 MPR. The components are displaying but during the jetty:run I get exception as below

            I got an answer from Vaadin Team. I did not add @PWA annotation.

            Answer from Vaadin Team: There is possibly sw.js registered by a previous app you have used on the same computer. So probably unregistering service workers from browser settings will help, Browser registers service workers against the URL, so if you try out different apps locally, the registrations collide with localhost.

            Solution: After adding the annotation, the exception disappeared.

            Thank you, very much, Mr.Tatu for your help.

            ANSWER

            Answered 2021-Dec-08 at 16:18

            This is a straightforward modification of the code you have.

            First, make sure you're assigning the current date to a variable, rather than just printing it out:

            today = datetime.today().strftime('%Y%m%d')

            Then include this in the search string in your glob command (making sure to put an asterisk on either side, if you want matches wherever the date is in the filename):

            tifs = glob.glob('C:\Program Files\GeoServer\data_dir\data\RSS_WH/*'+today+'*.tif')

            or, equivalently:

            tifs = glob.glob('C:\Program Files\GeoServer\data_dir\data\RSS_WH/*{}*.tif'.format(today))
