QUESTION
In order to achieve High Availability we have created two blob containers under different storage accounts at different Azure regions.
So that, if application find issues while WRITING to primary blob container, application will perform circuit-breaker logic and if issue persists even after threshold number of attempts, application will start WRITING to stand-by blob storage account which is located in different Azure location & this architecture works fine.
Code used to switch from primary to secondary:
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Mar-12 at 07:20First, as you may know, there is no official docker image of Azcopy available. The github issue mentions it.
And yes, you can use azure function to do it(about ADF, not sure, but asked some guys, they say it's not easy to do that), but it may a little difficult.
The easier solution is to use azure web job and azcopy
together. Just specify the webjob as schedule when creating it in azure portal. Azure webjob supports many file types like .ps1(powershell), .cmd, .py
etc. So it's very easy to use one of your favorites to create it.
Here, I will create a .ps1(powershell) file, then upload it to azure webjob to execute the sync job on scheduled time.
Step 1: create a .ps1 file. The name of the file must be run.ps1. Then use the code below in the run.ps1 file(please use your own source storage and destination storage in the code):
QUESTION
so, I have been trying for hours now to upload a VHD to Azure.
I downloaded a VHD by exporting on one Azure tenant on another domain, now I'm trying to upload it on another Azure account to attach it to a VM.
Steps (based on this article):
- Exported VHD on tenant 1 (T1)
- Logged into Azure CLI on PC with tenant 2 (T2)
- Created a disk through Azure CLI T2 with upload bytes parameter set (30GB - 32213303808 bytes)
- Granted access to disk on T2
- Started upload with
AzCopy.exe copy "D:\Downloads\disk.vhd "https://[sasurl]" --blob-type PageBlob
As soon as the upload starts, it gets stuck on 0.5 %, after about 55 minutes it just spits out that the upload has failed.

...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Feb-13 at 22:13I stumbled upon a good solution myself:
Since I was uploading a VHD of a disk already on Azure, instead of using the downloaded VHD I used the original VHD export URL as the source of the disk.
QUESTION
I have a confusion about the --put-md5 parameter. When I use azcopy command to upload a file to my Azure Storage account without --put-md5 parameter, the uploaded blob's Content-MD5 property seem to be created defaultly. However, the AzCopyV10.0.9 Preview Release illustrates that "as of version 10.0.9, MD5 hashes are NOT created by default". Could you please help to check it? See the screenshots: CMD Portal
Thanks.
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jan-21 at 08:31I tested on my side and got same result.MD5 hash is calculated and stored automatically.
This seems to be an azcopy bug.
Here is an opened issue in Microsoft Github azcopy repository. https://github.com/Azure/azure-storage-azcopy/issues/1315
Reply from Microsoft
For smaller blobs (<256MB IIRC), the service computes it automatically for you.
QUESTION
I'm getting an error trying to copy all files from an Azure File Share to a Blob Container within the same Storage account.
...ANSWER
Answered 2020-Aug-11 at 12:14When you request the SAS token, you need to make sure you grant list permission as well, the correct syntax for this is rwdl
. I have included the reference for the command as well should you need it here.
QUESTION
I'm trying to copy files from AWS S3 to Azure storage archive access tier directly. Using azcopy
I can copy the files from S3 to Azure but when using --block-blob-tier Archive
flag I hit the error:
ANSWER
Answered 2020-Mar-27 at 02:40Instead of downloading files from S3 to your local computer and then uploading it back to Azure Storage, you can simply copy the file from S3 to Azure Storage without explicitly setting the blob access tier. The resulting blob's access tier would be Hot
. Once the copy operation completes successfully, you can change the access tier.
The advantage of this approach is that the copying happens directly between S3 and Azure Storage. However this process is asynchronous and you must wait for the copy operation to complete (instead of just getting it accepted) before initiating the access tier change operation.
UPDATE
If copying directly from S3 to Azure Blob Storage and then changing access tier is not practical for you from cost perspective, you can download the object from S3 and upload directly in Azure Blob Storage Archive tier. This feature is in preview as of writing of this post. This feature is available in Storage REST API version 2019-02-02. From the release notes link
:
The Copy Blob, Put Block List, and Put Blob APIs support the x-ms-access-tier header for Block Blobs, to set the tier on the result without needing a second API call.
