kandi X-RAY | ksql Summary
KissSQL or the "Keep it Simple" SQL package was created to offer an actually simple and satisfactory tool for interacting with SQL Databases. The core idea on ksql is to offer an easy to use interface, the actual comunication with the database is decoupled so we can use ksql on top of pgx, database/sql and possibly other tools. You can even create you own backend adapter for ksql which is useful in some situations.

QUESTION
I'm learning K-SQL/KSQL-DB and currently exploring joins. Below is the issue where I'm stuck.
I have 1 stream 'DRIVERSTREAMREPARTITIONEDKEYED' and one table 'COUNTRIES', below is their description.
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jun-13 at 10:41For join to work it is our responsible to verify if the keys of both entities which are being joined lie in the same partition, KsqlDB can't verify whether the partitioning strategies are the same for both join inputs.
In my case My 'Drivers' topic had 2 partitions on which I had created a stream 'DriversStream' which in turn also had 2 partitions, but the table 'Countries' which I wanted to Join it with had only 1 partition, due to this I 're-keyed' the 'DriversStream' and created another stream 'DRIVERSTREAMREPARTITIONEDKEYED' shown in the question.
But the data of the table and the stream were not in the same partition hence the join was failing.
I created another topic with 1 partition 'DRIVERINFO'.

I'm running java application(ksqldb 0.15.0) on GKE cluster, and passed the java opts -Xms3G
and -Xmx5G
.
-Xmx
option is working well, but -Xms
options seems not to be effected.
The running command is as follows;

sets the initial heap size, not the minimum size.
NGCMN
and OGCMN
denote the minimum capacity of the new generation and the old generation respectively. These numbers are useless most of the time. What you probably wanted to look at is NGC
/OGC
- the current capacity of the new generation and the old generation.
You've set -Xms3G
, and the current heap size is exactly
QUESTION
I have a helm chart that is creating a config map for which I am passing content as a value from terraform using helm_release.
values.yml: default is empty
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-May-24 at 15:09I would use filebase64
to get the file with terraform to avoid templating issues. You can unmarshal it in helm like this: {{ b64dec .Values.sql_queries_file }}
. By the way you should use data field in configMaps like this:
QUESTION
I searched for a solution to have confluentic-kafka work with ingress, and I reached this PR that did such implementation, but this PR isn't accepted (yet - the repository owner dropped and the repo doesn't exist any more).
So, I tried to implement something very simple as a proof of concept using as a reference this manual.
Currently I have ingress enabled:
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-May-19 at 14:11It worked only when I started my minikube without a driver (to be created on the storage of the machine and not as a VM) and specifying the 9.x ingress network ip (to get it I ran: ip a

QUESTION
I'm trying to build a system that reads json data(schema-less) from Kafka, converts it to avro and pushes it to s3.
I have been able to achieve the json to avro conversion using KStreams and KSQL. I was wondering if the same thing is possible using Kafka Connect's custom transforms.
This is what I have tried so far:
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jan-06 at 05:52The KafkaConnect custom transformer only needs to add a schema to the incoming JSON. The sink property format.class=io.confluent.connect.s3.format.avro.AvroFormat will take care of the rest.
Without a schema, the record value is a Map and with a schema it becomes a struct. I had to modify my code as below:
QUESTION
I am implementing custom library (using UDFs) for KSQL engine and I wonder how to solve one of the issues I have.
I have defined a couple of UDFs which do something with parameters passed and return some output. Now, I need to pass those UDFs (their calls) into other UDF. So the structure would look like this:
SELECT * FROM stream s WHERE UDF_1(UDF_11(s.param1, s.param2), UDF_12(s.param3, s.param4), ...) EMIT CHANGES;
Is it possible to do define the UDF which takes other UDFs as arguments? If yes, how can I achieve it? If not, please share the idea you have on how I can solve the problem.
Thanks for any help in advance.
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Apr-01 at 14:12I'm assuming you're asking about what the parameters for the method definition should be?
A UDF would return a single value, and the functions would be evaluated inside out, so they are not "taking UDFs as parameters", just the return value, which would generally be a primitive java type
For example, if you split a string column, then cast it to an int, that'd have to look like CAST(STRSPLIT(c, delim)[0] AS INT)
, where the cast operator takes any Object (here a string), and returns an integer, which could be passed further to more UDFs
QUESTION
With this grammar , I am trying to extract user written expressions from sql queries.
For example, from this query i'd like to extract FNAME,LName and name.

QUESTION
I have a Kafka cluster that I'm managing with Docker.
I have a container where I'm running the broker and another one where I run the pyspark program which is supposed to connect to the kafka topic inside the broker container.
If I run the pyspark script in my local laptop everything runs perfectly but if I try to run the same code from inside the pyspark container I get the following error:
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Mar-21 at 09:38There are several problems in your setup:
- You don't add the package for Kafka support as described in docs. It's either needs to be added when starting
pyspark
, or when initializing session, something like this (change3.0.1
to version that is used in your jupyter container):
QUESTION
I am doing aggregation with KSQL and need to persist the output table in MariaDB. I have already set up MariaDB and the JdbcSinkConnector. Unfortunately, the sink just won't work for me.
This is the table's structure in KSQL, which I would like to dump in MariaDB:
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Mar-08 at 13:51If you're using the JDBC Sink you need to be using a serialisation format for your data that includes the schema, e.g. using Avro, Protobuf, or JSON Schema.
In ksqlDB you can specify that when you create your object:
