kandi X-RAY | kip Summary

kip is a Go library typically used in Cloud, AWS applications. kip has no bugs, it has no vulnerabilities, it has a Permissive License and it has low support. You can download it from GitHub.

Kip is a Virtual Kubelet provider that allows a Kubernetes cluster to transparently launch pods onto their own cloud instances. The kip pod is run on a cluster and will create a virtual Kubernetes node in the cluster. When a pod is scheduled onto the Virtual Kubelet, Kip starts a right-sized cloud instance for the pod’s workload and dispatches the pod onto the instance. When the pod is finished running, the cloud instance is terminated. We call these cloud instances “cells”. When workloads run on Kip, your cluster size naturally scales with the cluster workload, pods are strongly isolated from each other and the user is freed from managing worker nodes and strategically packing pods onto nodes. This results in lower cloud costs, improved security and simpler operational overhead.

How Apache Kafka Exactly Once transaction id impact on the new fetch request producer fencing approach
            Asked 2021-Apr-22 at 13:10

In earlier versions of Kafka exactly-once semantics static mapping should have between transaction id and topic partitions during consumer group mismatch there are chances that transaction id gets different topic partition.

To avoid such a scenario KIP-447: Producer scalability for exactly once semantics was implemented, what I was understood from the KIP-477 that the old producer fenced using the fetch offset call with the help of a new API(sendOffsetToProdcuer) so transactio.id not used for fencing.

            But my doubt here is,

            1. still transactional producer expect transaction.id how should I choose this value for the latest Kafka version?

            2. transaction.id should have a static mapping with partitions, fetch offset fencing take effect only during consumer group rebalancing?

            3. Is this value invalid for the latest version?

Please help me with this I am trying to understand Kafka EoS and implement it in the production system.

Since you tagged this with spring-kafka, I assume you are using it; the transactional.id can now be different for each instance (as it was previously required for producer-only transactions). There is no longer a need to tie the id to the group/topic/partition, and a much smaller number of producers is needed.

            See https://docs.spring.io/spring-kafka/docs/current/reference/html/#exactly-once

The broker needs to be 2.5 or later.

Kafka MirrorMaker2 automated consumer offset sync
            Asked 2021-Jan-27 at 20:13

I am using MirrorMaker2 for DR.

Kafka 2.7 should support automated consumer offset sync

Here is the yaml file I am using (I use strimzi for creating it)

All source cluster topics are replicated in destination cluster. Also ...checkpoint.internal topic is created in destination cluster that contains all source cluster offsets synced, BUT I don't see these offsets being translated into destination cluster _consumer_offsets topic which means when I will start consumer (same consumer group) in destination cluster it will start reading messages from the beginning.

My expectation is that after allowing automated consumer offsets sync all consumer offsets from source clusters translated and stored in _consumer_offsets topic in the destination cluster.

Can someone please clarify if my expectation is correct and if not how it should work.

The sync.group.offsets.enabled setting is for MirrorCheckpointConnector.

I'm not entirely sure how Strimzi runs MirrorMaker 2 but I think you need to set it like:

I think this might be because the private key you are using is encrypted with a PBES2 scheme. You can use OpenSSL to convert the original key and use PBES1 instead:

I do not think you can use an array to provide arguments to WinSCP. The subprocess.Popen escapes double quotes in the arguments using backslash, what conflicts with double double-quotes escaping expected by WinSCP.

You will have to format the WinSCP command-line on your own:

Faster way to filter pandas DataFrame in For loop on multiple conditions
            Asked 2020-Dec-27 at 02:00

I am working with a large dataframe (~10M rows) that contains dates & textual data, and I have a list of values that I need to make some calculations per each value in that list.

For each value, I need to filter/subset my dataframe based on 4 conditions then make my calculations and move on to the next value. Currently, ~80% of the time is spent on the filters block making the processing time extremely long duration (few hours)

What I currently have is this:

            ANSWER

            Answered 2020-Dec-27 at 02:00

So, it looks like you really just want to split by year of the 'Date' column, and do something with each group. Also, for a large df, it is usually faster to filter what you can once beforehand, and then get a smaller one (in your example with one year worth of data), then do all your looping/extractions on the smaller df.

Without knowing much more about the data itself (C-contiguous? F-contiguous? Date-sorted?), it's hard to be sure, but I would guess that the following may prove to be faster (and it also feels more natural IMHO):

            Install kip

There are two ways to get Kip up and running.
Use the provided Terraform scripts to create a new Kubernetes cluster with a single Kip node. There are instructions for AWS and GCP.
Add Kip to an existing kubernetes cluster. This option is documented below.
To deploy Kip into an existing cluster, you'll need to setup cloud credentials that allow the Kip provider to manipulate cloud instances, networking and other cloud resources. In AWS, Kip can either use API keys supplied in the Kip provider configuration file (provider.yaml) or use the instance profile of the machine the Kip pod is running on. On Google Cloud, Kip can use the oauth scopes attached to the k8s node it runs on. Alternatively the user can supply a service account key in provider.yaml. You can configure the AWS access key Kip will use in your provider configuration, via changing accessKeyID and secretAccessKey under the cloud.aws section. See below on how to create a kustomize overlay with your custom provider configuration. In AWS, Kip can use credentials supplied by the instance profile attached to the node the pod is dispatched to. To use an instance profile, create an IAM policy with the minimum Kip permissions then apply the instance profile to the node that will run the Kip provider pod. The Kip pod must run on the cloud instance that the instance profile is attached to. In GCE, Kip can use the service account attached to an instance. Kip requires https://www.googleapis.com/auth/compute scope in order to launch instances.
