After upgrading from Angular 12 to 13, cache is too large for Github
            Asked 2022-Mar-28 at 18:10

I recently upgraded all of my dependencies in package.json to the latest. I went from Angular 12.2.0 to 13.0.1 and github is now rejecting my push with the following file size error. Is there some setting I need to define in angular.json build profile that will help minimize these cache file sizes?

Make sure your .gitignore is in the parent folder of .angular.
In that .gitignore file, a simple .angular/cache/ should be enough to ignore that subfolder content.

The new version, of react-native-gesture-handler send warning if you use an old API version, but also if one of your package/library use it.

To disable the warning, you can ignore logs.

Group and create three new columns by condition [Low, Hit, High]
            Asked 2022-Feb-10 at 16:22

I have a large dataset (~5 Mio rows) with results from a Machine Learning training. Now I want to check to see if the results hit the "target range" or not. Lets say this range contains all values between -0.25 and +0.25. If it's inside this range, it's a Hit, if it's below Low and on the other side High.

I now would create this three columns Hit, Low, High and calculate for each row which condition applies and put a 1 into this col, the other two would become 0. After that I would group the values and sum them up. But I suspect there must be a better and faster way, such as calculate it directly while grouping. I'm happy for any idea.

Java 17: Maven doesn't give much information about the error that happened, why?
            Asked 2022-Feb-04 at 20:28

I'm upgrading from JDK 8 to JDK 17 and I'm trying to compile with mvn clean install -X -DskipTests and there's no information about the error.

Btw, I'm updating the dependencies and after that I compile to see if has errors. I need to update some dependencies such as Spring, Hibernate etc. I already updated Lombok.

I added the -X or -e option but I got the same result.

What can I do to get more information about the error? The log shows that it was loading hibernate-jpa-2.1-api before failed... so that means the problem is in this dependency?

This failure is likely due to an issue between java 17 and older lombok versions. Building with java 17.0.1, lombok 1.18.20 and maven 3.8.1 caused a vague "Compilation failure" for me as well. I upgraded to maven 3.8.3 which also failed but provided this detail on the failure:

java.lang.NullPointerException: Cannot read field "bindingsWhenTrue" because "currentBindings" is null

Searching for this failure message I found this issue on stackoverflow leading me to a bug in lombok. I upgraded to lombok 1.18.22 and that fixed the compilation failure for a successful build.

How do I connect to MongoDB, running in Github codespaces, using MongoDB Compass?
            Asked 2022-Jan-09 at 23:27

I'm trying out Github codespaces, specifically the "Node.js & Mongo DB" default settings.

The port is forwarded, and my objective is to connect with MongoDB Compass running on my local machine.

The address forwarded to 27017 is something like https://.githubpreview.dev/

            My attempt

I attempted to use the following connection string, but it did not work in MongoDB compass. It failed with No addresses found at host. I'm actually unsure about how I even determine if MongoDB is actually running in the Github codespace?

As @iravinandan said you need to set up a tunnel.

Publishing a port alone won't help as all incoming requests are going through an http proxy.

If you dig CNAME .githubpreview.dev you will see it's github-codespaces.app.online.visualstudio.com. You can put anything in the githubpreview.dev subdomain and it will still be resolved on the DNS level.

The proxy relies on HTTP Host header to route the request to correct upstream so it will work for HTTP protocols only.

To use any other protocol (MongoDb wire protocol in your case) you need to set up a TCP tunnel from codespaces to your machine.

Simplest set up - direct connection

At the time of writing the default Node + Mongo codespace uses Debian buster, so ssh port forwarding would be the obvious choice. In the codespace/VSCode terminal:

Wrong PHP version used when installing composer with Alpine's apk command

Huh. This surprised me a bit.

composer is correctly reporting the PHP version it's using. The problem is that it's not using the "correct" PHP interpreter.

The issue arises because of how you are installing composer.

Apparently by doing apk add composer another version of PHP gets installed (you can find it on /usr/bin/php8, this is the one on version 8.0.14).

Instead of letting apk install composer for you, you can do it manually. There is nothing much to install it in any case, no need to go through the package manager. Particularly since PHP has not been installed via the package manager on your base image.

I've just removed the line containing composer from the apk add --update command, and added this somewhere below:

For communicating between multiple docker-compose clients, you need to make sure that the containers you want to talk to each other are on the same network.
