QUESTION
I need a cloud function that triggers automatically once per day and query in my "users" collection where "watched" field is true and update all of them as false. I get "13:26 error Parsing error: Unexpected token MyFirstRef" this error in my terminal while deploying my function. I am not familiar with js so can anyone please correct function. Thanks.

Answered 2021-Jun-15 at 16:13There are several points to correct in your code:
- You need to return a Promise when all the asynchronous job is completed. See this doc for more details.
- If you use the
await
keyword, you need to declare the functionasync
, see here. - A
QuerySnapshot
has aforEach()
method - You can get the
DocumentReference
of a doc from theQuerySnapshot
just by using theref
property.
The following should therefore do the trick:

I have a Python Apache Beam streaming pipeline running in Dataflow. It's reading from PubSub and writing to GCS. Sometimes I get errors like "Error in _start_upload while inserting file ...", which comes from:

Answered 2021-Jun-14 at 18:49In a streaming pipeline, Dataflow retries work items running into errors indefinitely.
The code itself does not need to have retry logic.
QUESTION
How can I ensure fairness in the Pub/Sub Pattern in e.g. kafka when one publisher produces thousands of messages, while all other producers are in a low digit of messages? It's not predictable which producer will have high activity.
It would be great if other messages from other producers don't have to wait hours just because one producer is very very active.
What are the patterns for that? Is it possible with Kafka or another technology like Google PubSub? If yes, how?
Multiple partitions also doesn't work very well in that case, or I can see how.

Answered 2021-Jun-14 at 01:48In Kafka, you could utilise the concept of quotas to prevent a certain clients to monopolise the cluster resources.
There are 2 types of quotas that can be enforced:
- Network bandwidth quotas
- Request rate quotas
More detailed information on how these can be configured can be found in the official documentation of Kafka.

QUESTION
We have setup Redis with sentinel high availability using 3 nodes. Suppose fist node is master, when we reboot first node, failover happens and second node becomes master, until this point every thing is OK. But when fist node comes back it cannot sync with master and we saw that in its config no "masterauth" is set.
Here is the error log and Generated by CONFIG REWRITE config:

QUESTION
I am developing a chat window using Can we get conversation history from Azure Web PubSub. Is there a way i can get the convesation history.
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jun-11 at 14:35According to this FAQ, the Azure Web PubSub service works as a data processor service and does not store customer messages. Therefore, you need to leverage other Azure services to store the conversation history. There is a Chatr application built by Ben Coleman which may be a good reference for you. You could start from this blog.
QUESTION
I have a requirement where I need to consume a kafka topic on Azure events hub. POST endpoint needs to be created which will consume a topic provided as an argument. The message has to be send on a pubsub topic with the kafka topic as attribute and the message content as body.
This is a high level requirement. I have looked here to understand how this can be achieved. However, if anyone has implemented this in real time that is events from Azure events hub to google cloud pub sub or have worked on similar implementation, please help.

Since your data's destination is BigQuery, you can use the Kafka to BigQuery template in Dataflow, you can use this template to load json messages from Kafka to BigQuery. In addition, according to the documentation,
How to use this Dataflow template Kafka to BigQuery This template creates a streaming pipeline that ingests JSON data from Kafka, executes an optional JavaScript user defined function (UDF), and writes the resulting records to BigQuery. Any errors during the transformation of the data, execution of the UDF, or writing into BigQuery will be written into a separate errors table in BigQuery. The errors table will be created if it does not exist.
Pipeline Requirements
The Kafka topic(s) exists and the message is encoded as a valid JSON.
The BigQuery output table exists.
The Kafka brokers are reachable from the Dataflow worker machines.
On the other hand, you can create your own template with your specific requirements using the KafkaIO method, you can check this tutorial to understand better how to start with.
QUESTION
While searching for the ordering features of Pub/Sub I stumbled upon the fact that ordering is preserved on the same region. Supposing I have ordered Pub/Sub subscriptions outside of GCP. Each subscription is on a different Datacenter on a Different Provider on another Region. How can I specify that those subscriptions will consume from a specific region? Is there an option on an ordered subscription to specify a region? If not then how Pub/Sub decides which region my application is located since it is provisioned in another datacenter, on another provider. Is the region assigned going to change?
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jun-09 at 15:10The ordering is preserved on the publish side only within a region. In other words, if you are publishing messages to multiple regions, only messages within the same region will be delivered in a consistent order. If your messages were all published to the same region, but your subscribers are spread across regions, then the subscribers will receive all messages in order. If you want to guarantee that your publishes all go to the same region to ensure they are in order, then you can use the regional service endpoints.
