I'd recommend switching to using the Python API rather than the REST API; https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/cognitive-services/speech-service/get-started-speech-to-text?tabs=windowsinstall&pivots=programming-language-python

That looks like a weird error that could even be being caused by something in your audio file, so swapping to the Python API would probably give you a more useful error message.

Why is javascript not recognizing my input as a varaible?
            Asked 2021-Jun-25 at 23:47

I'm working on this piece of code, and, when you enter you name through the settings button, the code should save your name in the variable "inputname" so when you speak "hello" to the program, the program should output "Hello" + the name you entered, but for some reason it won't work. Why is that?

When you define a variable (using var) inside a function, that confines that variable to that function only. Define inputname outside of the functions so other functions have access to it

Why does my javascript keep referring to the same innerHTML?
            Asked 2021-Jun-21 at 16:34

I'm building a voice assistant with javascript and html, and before I added the weather command (the last 'else if'), the code worked fine, but now, every time I try to ask the program something else, e.g. the date, the time, the innerHTML keeps displaying the weather. I've tried many different things but still with no avail. How come the innerHTML keeps displaying the weather instead of my other commands?

Here is my code, and since it requires mic access, here is the website: https://voice-assistant-development.stcollier.repl.co/. You can try it out yourself to see what I mean.

            ANSWER

            Answered 2021-Jun-21 at 16:32

The issue is that the weather-retrieving fetch is inside your record loop - without a conditional - so it executes every time. Because it takes a moment to get the results, it overrides any of your other outcomes. I would recommend putting it in another function and storing the variable so you can grab it when needed. If you put it in a window.onload event, it will fire when the page loads, so there won't be a delay when the voice command requests it.

I think you need to notify parent class while lastwords is changing if you want to show it simultaneously. Moving your speech recognition class to widget can make the trick. Create one variable at the top instead of lastwords and show in text widget.

There are several issues in your code:

            • Your if statement has a syntax error. if (condition == true) is the correct syntax in javascript. See the W3Schools Tutorial
            • Your transcript is not defined. Based on what you described, I think you would like to nest it into the onresult event, which fires once a word or phrase is being recognized.

Can't pass updated state of variable dynamically from screen/page 1 to screen/page 2
            Asked 2020-Nov-18 at 04:59

I created an instantiated an object (speech) in screen 1 and then called the initialization method for that object, where I set the error handling (var lastError gets the error output). Then I passed to screen 2 the object as an argument using Navigator.pushNamed where I call some other speech methods.

The problem I'm facing is that when an error arise while being in screen 2, I can't get the error output since the initialize and error catching was defined in screen 1.

What I have tried so far:

            1. Passing the lastError via GlobalKey, but it only passes the state at the time the widget of screen 2 is build, but not dinamically as it does in screen 1.
            2. Adding the errorHandling method in screen 2 but always the object calls the errorHandling method in screen 1.
            3. Adding setState for the key.currentState.lastError, but anyway it is not dynamically updated.

I can’t pass the initialize calling to page 2 since I need to confirm the object is working in screen 1 prior to pass to screen 2 to record voice.

Any advice how to get the error updated dynamically in screen 2?

You are trying to share state between two views. For that, you need a state management solution. Check out the Provider package. This is the approach recommended by the Flutter team.

In this case multithreading is faster since audio transcription is done in the cloud.

            • pydub (audio package)
            • speech_recognition (google speech recognition API for audio to text)

I would plug the phone to the laptop, Android studio's ADB would recognize the device, I hit run, and after the Gradle build, as soon as it goes into 'install', the process stops, and prints the following:
