As @Sysix pointed out, docker will always overwrite the folder in the container with the one on the host (no matter if it already existed or not). Only those files will be in that folder/volume that were created either on the host, or in the container during runtime.

How to save the stream frames at the client in Webrtc?
            Asked 2021-Apr-16 at 11:07

I'm using the video conference implementation source code using webrtc and nodejs.

I'm sending a video from a server to a client. I need to compute the PSNR of the received video to compute the objective visual quality.

            My concerns are:

            1. how to save the streamed frames at the client, from the video component of HTML5?
            2. If (1) is achieved, how to map the original frames with the received ones?

Record Audio and Video with MediaRecorder

I solved the problem using MediaRecorder. Using MediaRecorder API, you can start and stop the recorder, and collect the stream data as they arrive.

            The MediaStream can be from:

            • A getUserMedia() call.
            • The receiving end of a WebRTC call.
            • A screen recording.

It support the following MIME types:

            • audio/webm
            • video/webm
            • video/webm;codecs=vp8
            • video/webm;codecs=vp9

The following demo demonstrates that and the code is available as well

I still have to solve the second concern!! Any idea for mapping the local and remote video frames?

Application is not loading when deployed via azure app service
            Asked 2021-Apr-06 at 22:07

            I'm a newbie to Azure

I created a new Vue project using vue create which runs locally and even serving the dist folder too it run successfully. (serve -s dist)

And then I deployed the application using GitActions to Azure(Web App Service) which Azure DevOps services indicated that the deployment has been successful: azure-devops-service-github-actions

So I was expecting to see the default page as: vue-app-default-page-content

Instead, it still shows as: azure-site-landing-page

There are no error messages, and I'm not sure how best to debug what has gone wrong with a deployment. Also not sure if later when I use the application with any REST APIs does it include any configurations to get it up and running.

Secondly, not a blocker, but after removing these lines from the workflow - master.yml file the deployment continued without any issue. Used Node 12 and Node 14. I Googled and have no idea why??

Re-route traffic in kubernetes to a working pod
            Asked 2021-Mar-29 at 11:51

Not sure if such if there was such a question, so pardon me if I couldn't find such.

I have a cluster based on 3 nodes, my application consists of a frontend and a backend with each running 2 replicas:

            • front1 - running on node1
            • front2 - running on node2
            • be1 - node1
            • be2 - node2
            • Both FE pods are served behind frontend-service
            • Both BE pods are service behind be-service

When I shutdown node-2, the application stopped and in my UI I could see application errors.

I've checked the logs and found out that my application attempted to reach the service type of the backend pods and it failed to respond since be2 wasn't running, the scheduler is yet to terminate the existing one.

Only when the node was terminated and removed from the cluster, the pods were rescheduled to the 3rd node and the application was back online.

I know a service mesh can help by removing the pods that aren't responding from the traffic, however, I don't want to implement it yet, and trying to understand what is the best solution to route the traffic to the healthy pods in a fast and easy way, 5 minutes of downtime is a lot of time.

This is a community wiki answer. Feel free to expand it.

As already mentioned by @TomerLeibovich the main issue here was due to the Probes Configuration:

Probes have a number of fields that you can use to more precisely control the behavior of liveness and readiness checks:

            • initialDelaySeconds: Number of seconds after the container has started before liveness or readiness probes are initiated. Defaults to 0 seconds. Minimum value is 0.

            • periodSeconds: How often (in seconds) to perform the probe. Default to 10 seconds. Minimum value is 1.

            • timeoutSeconds: Number of seconds after which the probe times out. Defaults to 1 second. Minimum value is 1.

            • successThreshold: Minimum consecutive successes for the probe to be considered successful after having failed. Defaults to 1. Must be 1 for liveness and startup Probes. Minimum value is 1.

            • failureThreshold: When a probe fails, Kubernetes will try failureThreshold times before giving up. Giving up in case of liveness probe means restarting the container. In case of readiness probe the Pod will be marked Unready. Defaults to 3. Minimum value is 1.

Plus the proper Pod eviction configuration:

The kubelet needs to preserve node stability when available compute resources are low. This is especially important when dealing with incompressible compute resources, such as memory or disk space. If such resources are exhausted, nodes become unstable.

Changing the threshold to 1 instead of 3 and reducing the pod-eviction solved the issue as the Pod is now being evicted sooner.

            EDIT:

The other possible solution in this scenario is to label other nodes with the app backend to make sure that each backend/pod was deployed on different nodes. In your current situation one pod deployed on the node was removed from the endpoint and the application became unresponsive.

Also, the workaround for triggering pod eviction from the unhealthy node is to add tolerations to

Alpine uses musl for its C library. You can either use a different non-alpine based image such as node:12-buster-slim or any of the other non-Alpine tags here, or try to get it to work by setting up glibc with the instructions here. Using a Debian or Ubuntu based image would be the easiest way forward.

Alternative to Virtual applications and directories for Linux container
            Asked 2021-Jan-27 at 11:18

My team wants to deploy an Azure App Service that's running a React frontend and a Python Flask backend in a Linux environment. I've seen a thread stating that virtual applications and directories are unavailable for Linux. I heard that using custom storage is an alternative approach to allowing multiple applications to run on the same App Service.

If it's not a viable alternative, then what would be?

            ANSWER

            Answered 2021-Jan-27 at 07:52

Currently, virtual application is not supported for Linux environment on Azure.

            Here is some supported links:

            1. Virtual directory is IIS concept basically. we can't create virtual directory for Linux.
            2. For Windows apps, you can customize the IIS handler mappings and virtual applications and directories.
            3. Just like Joey Cai said, you could use container to proxy multiple applications on Linux, but virtual application is unreachable, because the port would be occupied for the default application.
            4. Running multiple sites in a single Linux web app was not officially supported.

From AWS docs and what you've posted the likely reason is that you are missing /bin/bash in your docker_run.sh:

User data shell scripts must start with the #! characters and the path to the interpreter you want to read the script (commonly /bin/bash).

            Thus your docker_run.sh should be:
