Find all combinations of strings up to given character length

I've got a list of strings, for example: ['Lion','Rabbit','Sea Otter','Monkey','Eagle','Rat']

I'm trying to find out the total number of possible combinations of these items, where item order matters, and the total string length, when all strings are concatenated with comma separators is less than a given length.

So, for max total string length 14, I would need to count combinations such as (not exhaustive list):

Lion
Rabbit
Eagle,Lion
Lion,Eagle
Lion,Eagle,Rat
Eagle,Lion,Rat
Sea Otter,Lion
etc...

but it would not include combinations where the total string length is more than the 14 character limit, such as Sea Otter,Monkey

I know for this pretty limited sample it wouldn't be that hard to manually calculate or determine with a few nested loops, but the actual use case will be a list of a couple hundred strings and a much longer character limit, meaning the number of nested iterations to write manually would be extremely confusing...

I tried to work through writing this via Python's itertools, but keep getting lost as none of the examples I'm finding come close enough to what I'm needing, especially with the limited character length (not limited number of items) and the need to allow repeated combinations in different orders.

Any help getting started would be great.

Query to Find Adjacent Records in Access 2016

I have a table with a field called Result that contains values that can be anywhere between 1 and 100.

The table also contains a Date/Time field and is sorted from oldest to newest.

I want to be able to return adjacent records that have a Result of less than 3.

So, I need to first find a record with a Result that is less than 3 then check if the next records also have a Result of less than 3. If they do these records should be returned.

There may be no such adjacent records or there may be multiple records that meet this criteria.

Is this possible?

I've put together a short piece of code that loops the original data, ordered by the date field, and if it finds a result of less than 3, checks the following results until one of them is 3 or more. It adds all of the ID fields to a string, which can then be used as the SQL for a query.

First time trying to make an HTML/CSS Django website, thank you for the patience. I'm working from a simple resume template and trying to fix an error I found from the start (template in question https://github.com/resume/resume.github.com/tree/47aba3b380459c07967b4f38c9e77fbe42be07a6).

I have a section of my section of my website with the following visual error (https://imgur.com/a/GaIUXB4). The 1px thick section divider line is being placed below the headings rather than after the full content of the section. This is not an issue for other sections of the website, but the stacked, non line-by-line elements like these two sections have issues.

The floating of .talent is most likely the culprit. When floating elements the parent looses track of their height, so if you check the dev tools you will most likely find out the divs with the class yui-gf are actually ending there.

Remove the floating and width of the .talent and try using grid on the parent to align its childs in columns.

What we can see in the html table, is that the first row holds a cell for every hierarchy level which is represented as a column. This means it has to be generated a row with all elements from the highest till the deepest hierarchy level. The element on the deepest hierarchy level is the one without further descendants. To get these we can use this xpath expression

I have a component that instantiates a few classes from the Tone.js library (e.g audio players and filters) and defines a few functions acting on these objects, which are used as callbacks in a set of UI-rendered buttons (see relevant code below).

Two of these buttons are supposed to toggle the boolean state is3D using the useState hook (in the updateSpatial function) in order to enable/disable one of these buttons. However, this update obviously causes the component to re-render entirely, thus re-instantiating my classes, which prevent the defined functions to work afterwards.

In contrast, I also tried the useRef hook, which allows for is3D update without re-rendering, but the button's disabled state is not updated as the component does not re-render.

Is there a pattern that fits with this situation? My next attempts include using HOC, Context, or Redux, but I'm not sure this is the most straighforward. Thanks!

I see two things wrong with your code. First, everything within the "normal" body of the function will be executed on on every render. Hence, the need for states and hooks. States allow you to keep data between renders, and hooks allow you to do a particular action upon a state change.

Second, useEffect(()=>console.log(hi)) does not have any dependencies, hence it will run on every render. useEffect(()=>console.log(hi),[]) will execute only on the first render. useEffect(()=>console.log(hi),[player1]) will execute when player1 changes. useEffect(()=>console.log(hi),[player1, player2]) will execute when player1 OR player2 change.

Be careful with hooks with dependencies. If you set the state of one of the dependencies within the hook itself, it will create an infinite loop

COUNT function not counting correctly with DATEDIFF

I am sure this is a simple fix, but can not figure it out. I have a COUNT function that needs to count the total number of Rentals. Alone, the function works just fine. I have tried using DISTINCT, tweaking the GROUP BY, and ORDER BY, but to not avail.

When I add the DATEDIFF function to get the NumberofDays rented, the COUNT function does not work the way as intended. I should be getting some results with "2" instead of "1". Note that I need to order by the Rentals.Boat_ID. Here is my code and table results. Thanks
