            React closure with callbacks
            Asked 2021-May-10 at 15:37

I was reading this React related article. I have also looked at the discussion on closures and callbacks here and here and here.

In an example, given in the React related article, there are three components ,

, . passes a state value to component during initialization and also during componentDidMount lifecycle. passes a callback function to component along with the state value it received from .

How could I store closures and use them with Actix actors?
            Asked 2018-Oct-12 at 22:52

I'm trying to use Actix to communicate capture events through WebSockets and process them using something like https://github.com/foochi/how-store-closures-with-actix. The idea is providing a library that can be used to store closures (events), and run them when a WebSockets text message is received.

Disclaimer: I'm not able to comment if this is a good design pattern for Actix as I'm just beginning understanding the framework.

As you have already discovered, the problem is related to lifetime requirements.

The Actor::create method requires a 'static lifetime for the closure argument:

            Install re-closure

You might need to adjust where your Java code is at, I assume OS X so you might need to adjust the jdk1.8.0_144.jdk in. in the lib/jbuild file. Also, assuming you have the ReasonML toolchain installed and jbuilder (opam install jbuilder -y) and on OS X, then just type make in the root of the project, that will run the example invocation of closure.
