#Recommender Demo ###Aim This is a small project to show Apache Mahout working as an offline recommendation for an ecommerce website. The code included creates random data for 5000 customers based on a million random recommendations for 45000 products. These values can be adjusted within the code if you require. ###Using it? If you're using this code then that's fantastic news. Feel free to let me know, I might even create a little link list of who's who. ###Requirements You'll require Apache Mahout (and it's required dependencies. I've used MySQL as the database but you can adjust as you wish. ###Setup the database Assuming you are running MySQL the schema is in the schema directory. ###Compile the code This demo is build 100% in Java and there's an ant script to compile the code for you (assuming that you have the required jar files in the lib directory first). ###Creating some data Before we can recommend anything we need some data to work with. The PopData class will create a millon rows of random data for you. If you want to tweak those numbers you can do.
