kandi X-RAY | kafdrop Summary
Kafdrop – Kafka Web UI [Tweet] ===. [Language grade: Java] Kafdrop is a web UI for viewing Kafka topics and browsing consumer groups. The tool displays information such as brokers, topics, partitions, consumers, and lets you view messages. This project is a reboot of Kafdrop 2.x, dragged kicking and screaming into the world of JDK 11+, Kafka 2.x, Helm and Kubernetes. It’s a lightweight application that runs on Spring Boot and is dead-easy to configure, supporting SASL and TLS-secured brokers.

QUESTION
I am trying to deploy a docker container with Kafka and Spark and would like to read to Kafka Topic from a pyspark application. Kafka is working and I can write to a topic and also spark is working. But when I try to read the Kafka stream I get the error message:
...ANSWER
Answered 2022-Jan-24 at 23:36Missing application resource
This implies you're running the code using python
rather than spark-submit
I was able to reproduce the error by copying your environment, as well as using findspark
, it seems PYSPARK_SUBMIT_ARGS
aren't working in that container, even though the variable does get loaded...
The workaround would be to pass the argument at execution time.
QUESTION
I want to copy all messages from a topic in Kafka cluster. So I ran Kafka Mirrormaker however it seems to have copied roughly only half of the messages from the source cluster (I checked that there's no consumer lag in source topic). I have 2 brokers in the source cluster does this have anything to do with this?
This is the source cluster config:
...ANSWER
Answered 2022-Jan-10 at 09:31I realized that the issue happened because I was copying data from a cluster with 2 brokers to a cluster with 1 broker. So I assume Mirrormaker1 just copied data from one broker from original cluster. When I configured the target cluster to have 2 brokers all of the messages were copied to it.
Regarding the advice of @OneCricketeer
to use Mirrormaker2 this also worked however it took me a while to get to correct configuration file:
QUESTION
I have the following docker-compose.yml file:
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Oct-27 at 14:48You seem to misunderstand Docker Compose networking. You should always be using service names, not IP addresses
If you use one Zookeeper server, ZOOKEEPER_SERVERS
doesn't do anything. This is used to join a cluster
So, you're looking for this
QUESTION
I've created a quarkus service that reads from a bunch of Kstreams, joins them and then post the join result back into a kafka topic. During development, I was running kafka and zookeeper from inside a docker-compose and then running my quarkus service on dev mode with:
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Aug-05 at 13:44I figured out that there were 2 problems:
In my docker-compose, I had to change the property
KAFKA_ADVERTISED_LISTENERS
toPLAINTEXT://kafka:29092,PLAINTEXT_HOST://kafka:9092
In my quarkus
application.properties
, I had 2 properties pointing to the wrong place:quarkus.kafka-streams.bootstrap-servers=localhost:9092
quarkus.kafka-streams.application-server=localhost:9999
QUESTION
I am implementing username/password in Kafka.
When I tried with PLAINTEXT
works as expected, but when I implement SASL_PLAINTEXT
I can't connect.
This is my docker-compose:

Answered 2021-Jun-04 at 08:50Remove this line from configuration
KAFKA_ZOOKEEPER_PROTOCOL SASL_PLAINTEXT
KafkaServer {
org.apache.kafka.common.security.plain.PlainLoginModule required
user_kafkauser="kafkapassword";
};
Notice user_kafkauser
QUESTION
I'm running Kafka in docker and I've a .NET application that I want to use to consume messages. I've followed following tutorials with no luck:
https://www.confluent.io/blog/kafka-client-cannot-connect-to-broker-on-aws-on-docker-etc/
Connect to Kafka running in Docker
Interact with kafka docker container from outside of docker host
On my consumer application I get the following error if I try to conenct directly to containers ip:
ANSWER
Answered 2021-May-10 at 14:13If you are running your consuming .NET app outside of Docker, you should try to connect to localhost:9092
. The kafka
hostname is only valid in Docker.
You'll find an example of how to run Kafka in Docker and consume the messages from it using a .NET Core app here.
You could compare the docker-compose.yml from that example with yours.
Here is how the the .NET Core app sets up the consumer:

QUESTION
I am trying to run kafka datagen connector inside kafka-connect container and my kafka resides in AWS MSK using : https://github.com/confluentinc/kafka-connect-datagen/blob/master/Dockerfile-confluenthub.
I am using kafdrop as a web browser for kafka broker (MSK). I don't see Kafka datagen generating any test messages. Is there anything other configuration I need to do except installing the kafka-datagen connector
Also, how can I check inside confluentinc/kafka-connect image what topics are created and whether messages are consumed or not?
Dockerfile looks like :
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Mar-27 at 20:57I just added in the dockerfile and ran RUN confluent-hub install --no-prompt confluentinc/kafka-connect-datagen:0.4.0 inside the dockerfile. Nothing else. No error logs .
That alone doesn't run the connector, only makes it available to the Connect API. Notice the curl example in the docs https://github.com/confluentinc/kafka-connect-datagen#run-connector-in-docker-compose
So, expose port 8083 and make the request to add the connector, and make sure to add all the relevant environment variables when you're running the container
QUESTION
I setup Kafka and Zookeeper on my local machine and I would like to use Kafdrop as UI. I tried running with docker command below:
...ANSWER
Answered 2020-Jul-23 at 06:09Kafka is not HTTP-based. You do not need a schema protocol to connect to Kafka, and angle brackets do not need used.
You also cannot use localhost
, as that is Kafdrop container, not Kafka.
I suggest you use Docker Compose with Kafdrop and Kafka
QUESTION
I setup a kafka cluster using bitnami kafka and zookeeper and I wanted to view this cluster or at least one broker using kafdrop. I used docker compose to build all the components. I initially followed this tutorial and then added the kafdrop config in the docker-compose.yml
...ANSWER
Answered 2020-Aug-26 at 15:05Your second way is the right way. Also for the KAFKA_CFG_ADVERTISED_LISTENERS
vars which I'm not sure are necessary. You just need to make sure to use the right ports. This should work fine:
