            FlinkKinesisConsumer does not retry on NoHttpResponseException?

            (Apache Flink1.8 on AWS EMR release label 5.28.x)

            Our data source is an AWS Kinesis stream (with 450 shards if that matters). We use the FlinkKinesisConsumer to read the kinesis stream. Our application occasionally (once every couple of days) crashes with a "Target server failed to respond" error. The full stack trace is at the bottom.

            Looking more into the codebase I found out that 'ProvisionedThroughputExceededException' are the only exception types that are retried on. Code
            1. Wondering why a transient http response exception is not retried by the kinesis connector?
            2. Is there a way I can pass in a retry configuration that will retry on these errors?

            The restart strategy that you are configuring with env.setRestartStrategy() is about restarting the entire Flink job in case of a failure. It won't affect the Kinesis Connector in Flink.

            Is there a way to programmatically check if a Flink streaming job started from a savepoint before executing the stream?

            Before calling execute on the StreamExecutionEnvironment and starting the stream job, is there a way to programmatically find out whether or not the job was restored from a savepoint? I need to know such information so that I can set the offset of a Kafka source depending on it while building the job graph.

            It seems that the FlinkConnectorKafkaBase class which has a method initializeState has access to such information (code). However, there is no way to intercept the FunctionInitializationContext and retrieve the isRestored() value since initializeState is a final method. Also, the initializeState method gets called after the job graph is executed and so I don't think there is a feasible solution associated to it.

            Another attempt I made was to find a Flink job parameter that indicates whether or not the job was started from a savepoint. However, I don't think such parameter exists.

            After using the nifi-toolkit I removed the custom value of nifi.remote.input.socket.port and then added transportProtocol(SiteToSiteTransportProtocol.HTTP) to my SiteToSiteClientConfig and http://localhost:8080/nifi as the URL.

            The reason why I changed the port in the first place is that without specifying the protocol HTTP it will use RAW by default. And when using the RAW protocol from Flink side, the client cannot create Transaction and prints the following warning:

            Install flink-connectors

            Building the connectors from the source is only necessary when we want to use or contribute to the latest (unreleased) version of the Pravega Flink connectors. To build the project, Java version 11 is required and the repository needs to be checkout via git clone https://github.com/pravega/flink-connectors.git. The connector project is linked to a specific version of Pravega, based on the pravegaVersion field in the gradle.properties. After cloning the repository, the project can be built (excluding tests) by running the below command in the project root directory flink-connectors.
