QUESTION
I am trying to create a source for metrics from my spark application written in Scala to export data to another system, preferable to Prometheus. According to this site from Data bricks I need to create a source that extends the Source trait. However, the Source trait is private[spark] trait Source
and my source cannot visualize it. When I create this class I get the error Symbol Source is inaccessible from this place
.

Install spark-metrics
You can use spark-metrics like any standard Java library. Please include the the jar files in your classpath. You can also use any IDE and you can run and debug the spark-metrics component as you would do with any other Java program. Best practice is to use a build tool that supports dependency management such as Maven or Gradle. For Maven installation, please refer maven.apache.org. For Gradle installation, please refer gradle.org .
