QUESTION
I'm trying to write a Haskell-style language parser in ANTLR4, but I'm having some issues with function application. It parses as right associative rather than left associative
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Dec-09 at 13:59As @sepp2k pointed out, | expression expression
will correct your issue.
ANTLR defaults to left associativity., but you were overriding that with the (expression)+
in trying to gather all the expressions.
Of course, this will give you a parse tree of (expr (expr (expr f) (expr "a")) (expr "b"))
but this is probably more in keeping with a Haskell approach to function application than just a list of expressions.
BTW, precedence only comes into play when operators are involved. Having StringLiteral
before LSquareParen
his no effect on precedence since there's no ambiguity in determining the correct parse tree to derive. You may find that your OperatorApplicationExpresion
alternative gives "surprising" results as it will evaluate all operators left-to-right, so a + b * c
will be evaluated as "(a + b) * c" and this violates arithmetic norms (maybe it's what you want however).
QUESTION
I keep receiving an error/lint which reads Variable 'self.item' used before being initialized
. This message only appears when I seemingly add a @State
of type Date
(see commented line below).
Variable item
is a CoreData
value that I'm attempting to update through a form. All of the other required data types (int, string, data, etc.) all work as expected.
I'm fairly confident that this is an issue which stems from my lack of experience with Swift or declarative-style languages in general, but I'm also wary that it could be a compiler issue as I seem to run into a few of those as well.

Install sails-template
From your terminal (any directory is fine) run brew update
If you haven't already installed node, do it now. Run brew install node
If you haven't already installed postgres, do it now. Run brew install postgresql Then run ln -sfv /usr/local/opt/postgresql/*.plist ~/Library/LaunchAgents Then run launchctl load ~/Library/LaunchAgents/homebrew.mxcl.postgresql.plist
Install sails npm install -g sails forever grunt-cli
Create a free account on Heroku. Be sure to pick node.js as your development language. Heroku sign up
Go to this link
Download and install the Heroku Toolbelt for Mac OS X
You will need to do all of these steps once for each new project.
Create a postgres database for your new application: createdb appdb
Create a postgres user for your new application: createuser postgres
Fork and then clone this repo from GitHub.
Run npm install to install the back-end dependencies.
Run bower install to install the front-end dependencies.
To run your sails server type forever -w start app.js. This will restart the server any time there is a change to one of the server files. To stop the sails server type forever stop app.js
I recommend keeping the server output log open in its own terminal window: forever logs app.js -f To stop watching the log type ctrl+c
Open http://localhost:1337 in Chrome to make sure that the app is running properly
You will need to do all of these steps once for each new project.
On the command line make sure that you are inside of your project directory and your project has a github repo (aka you have typed git init or cloned it from GitHub)
Run the command heroku create to create a new app on heroku. You may have to enter your heroku username and password.
Run heroku addons:add heroku-postgresql to create a database on heroku for your app.
Run heroku config:set NODE_ENV=heroku to set the environment variable to heroku. This will cause the heroku server to use a slightly different server configuration.
