            QUESTION

            Can't pass assertThrows, instead get java.lang.NoSuchMethodError
            Asked 2020-Dec-01 at 16:14

            I'm honing/getting my feet back under me doing some simple code challenges in java and making sure I can assert both when the code works and when it throws an exception.

            When I test with something that should pass, the code passes correctly. When I have it throw an exception, it throws the exception. But when I use assertThrows on the exception, the test fails with this error:

            java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: 'java.lang.Throwable org.junit.Assert.assertThrows(java.lang.Class, org.junit.function.ThrowingRunnable)'

            The test code looks like:

            assertThrows(NoSuchElementException.class, ()-> TwoSum.twoSum(testArray, 20));

            QUESTION

            Why is it necessary to both autowire and initialize a method in Spring Boot
            Asked 2018-Dec-22 at 06:50

            I am new to Spring Boot and have Autowired an @Component annotated class into my Application class. In the main method, I am then trying to call a method on this Autowired class. However, when I call a method from this Autowired class, it tells me that it 'cannot be resolved'.

            What is the point of autowiring a class if you have to instantiate it like you would if it wasn't autowired? Doesn't this make autowiring unnecessary?

            My application class that produces the error is:

            Autowiring isn't working in your case because at the point you are trying to use your bean, the springContext isn't up and hence the dependencies aren't injected. Try this, use event listener:
