QUESTION
I have two fargate tasks running in two different clusters, the first one is running on port 3000 and can receive requests from anyone, the second one is running on port 8080 and can be accessed only by the first one. Both are in the same Security Group and VPC.
I created an inbound rule to allow public access for the first one, then I tried to create other inbound rule to enable the access for the second through security group ingress. But when the first service tries to access the second, I receive an Timeout Error.
When I allow the public access to the second service, the communication works properly, but I cannot allow it for forever.
Each service has a loadbalancer configured, but I already tried to access the service by his task public ip without success too.
Anyone has any idea what I am doing wrong?? The inbound rules for the security group can be checked in this image

Answered 2022-Mar-08 at 20:26If the first service tries to access the second service by the second service's public IP, then the traffic will to out to the Internet and back, which will destroy the association with the network traffic's association with the origin security group.
To keep the traffic inside the VPC, and to make sure the security group rules apply as intended, the first service needs to connect to the second service via the second service's private IP.
If you are using a load balancer for the second service, then it needs to be an internal load balancer, not an external load balancer.

It appears that your actual problem is simply accessing Secrets Manager from inside a Lambda function running in a VPC.
It's also strange that you are assigning a "db" security group to the Lambda function. What are the inbound/outbound rules of this Security Group?
It is entirely unclear why you created a VPC endpoint. What are we supposed to make of service_name = "foo"
? What is service "foo"? How is this VPC endpoint related to the Lambda function in any way? If this is supposed to be a VPC endpoint for Secrets Manager, then the service name should be "com.amazonaws.YOUR-REGION.secretsmanager"

If you need more help you need to edit your question to provide the following: The inbound and outbound rules of any relevant security groups, and the Lambda function code that is trying to call SecretsManager.
Update: After clarifications in comments and the updated question, I think the problem is you are missing any subnet assignments for the VPC Endpoint. Also, since you are adding a VPC policy with full access, you can just leave that out entirely, as the default policy is full access. I suggest changing the VPC endpoint to the following:

Recently got an email titled, "Important News from AWS About Amazon EC2-Classic" describing some changes that need to occur. These emails from AWS usually reference the effected resources though and this one did not. I am having a hard time identifying what resources in our account are effected by this. All our EC2 instances are in a VPC and I am not even sure if anything needs to change or not.
Is there a way to identify that an EC2 instance is classic?
I have looked through their linked documentation and gone through the instances we have but I cannot tell if they are "classic" of not.

If you are using Java, Python, or Go, there are language specific connectors you can use from Cloud Run. These all have the option to use IAM DB AuthN as part of them.

field, so Argo leaves it as-is. Python tries to interpret it as code, which is why you get an exception.
The proper way to communicate an input artifact to Python in Argo is to specify the artifact destination (which you’ve done) in the templates input definition. Then in Python, use files from that path the same way you would do in any Python app.

I have an application running on my local machine that uses React -> gRPC-Web -> Envoy -> Go app and everything runs with no problems. I'm trying to deploy this using GKE Autopilot and I just haven't been able to get the configuration right. I'm new to all of GCP/GKE, so I'm looking for help to figure out where I'm going wrong.

From what I've read, GKE Autopilot mode requires using External HTTP(s) load balancing instead of Network Load Balancing as described in the above solution, so I've been trying to get that to work. After a variety of attempts, my current strategy has an Ingress, BackendConfig, Service, and Deployment. The deployment has three containers: my app, an Envoy sidecar to transform the gRPC-Web requests and responses, and a cloud SQL proxy sidecar. I eventually want to be using TLS, but for now, I left that out so it wouldn't complicate things even more.
When I apply all of the configs, the backend service shows one backend in one zone and the health check fails. The health check is set for port 8080 and path /healthz which is what I think I've specified in the deployment config, but I'm suspicious because when I look at the details for the envoy-sidecar container, it shows the Readiness probe as: http-get HTTP://:0/healthz headers=x-envoy-livenessprobe:healthz. Does ":0" just mean it's using the default address and port for the container, or does indicate a config problem?
I've been reading various docs and just haven't been able to piece it all together. Is there an example somewhere that shows how this can be done? I've been searching and haven't found one.

I'm new to AWS and it's services. What I want to achieve is a multi-tenancy SaaS application. What my concept looks like: I use Cognito for user authentication. There all users no matter what tenant they belong to should use one frontend to login. For the tenant-recognition I use a custom attribute "custom:tenant" which I get from the JWT when the login is successful. For the applicantion itself I want to use VPCs and to ensure encapsulation each tenant should have their own VPC.
Example:
- User A of Tenant 1 login and gets back JWT with claim "custom:tenant":"1" should be routed to VPC 1
- User B of Tenant 2 login and gets back JWT with claim "custom:tenant":"2" should be routed to VPC 2
Now my question is: how do I achieve this routing from the success of the login to the appropriate VPC? Do I need further Services for that or where do I find these settings?

Answered 2021-Dec-10 at 21:18There is a standard content based routing technique for routing based on the contents of JWTs. This type of thing is usually managed by a reverse proxy or API gateway placed in front of APIs, which runs some custom logic to read the JWT and route accordingly. This also keeps the plumbing outside of application components.
EXAMPLE
Here is an NGINX example coded in LUA, a high level scripting language, to read the JWT and extract a claim. In this example it is a zone whereas in your case it is a tenant ID:

Not all middleware supports this type of routing though. Eg you won't be able to do it in a simple load balancer. One option might be to use NGINX as a cloud managed service though it will cost money. A good gateway in front of APIs is an important architectural component though, so see if your company feels it is worth investing in.
