            How do purely functional languages handle index-based algorithms?
            Asked 2022-Apr-05 at 12:51

            I have been trying to learn about functional programming, but I still struggle with thinking like a functional programmer. One such hangup is how one would implement index-heavy operations which rely strongly on loops/order-of-execution.

            For example, consider the following Java code:

            This is not an index-heavy operation, in fact you can do this with a one-liner with scanl1 :: (a -> a -> a) -> [a] -> [a]:

            Asked 2022-Apr-04 at 15:46

            Not really sure what caused this but most likely exiting the terminal while my rails server which was connected to PostgreSQL database was closed (not a good practice I know but lesson learned!)

            I've already tried the following:

            1. Rebooting my machine (using MBA M1 2020)
            2. Restarting PostgreSQL using homebrew brew services restart postgresql
            3. Re-installing PostgreSQL using Homebrew
            4. Updating PostgreSQL using Homebrew
            5. I also tried following this link but when I run cd Library/Application\ Support/Postgres terminal tells me Postgres folder doesn't exist, so I'm kind of lost already. Although I have a feeling that deleting postmaster.pid would really fix my issue. Any help would be appreciated!

            My original answer only included the troubleshooting steps below, and a workaround. I now decided to properly fix it via brute force by removing all clusters and reinstalling, since I didn't have any data there to keep. It was something along these lines, on my Ubuntu 21.04 system:

            We also recently had this issue on a mac running the latest public beta of Monterey.

            For some reason the Times font was no longer installed or active on the Mac.

            Asked 2022-Mar-23 at 04:30

            Im attempting to find model performance metrics (F1 score, accuracy, recall) following this guide https://machinelearningmastery.com/how-to-calculate-precision-recall-f1-and-more-for-deep-learning-models/

            This exact code was working a few months ago but now returning all sorts of errors, very confusing since i havent changed one character of this code. Maybe a package update has changed things?

            I fit the sequential model with model.fit, then used model.evaluate to find test accuracy. Now i am attempting to use model.predict_classes to make class predictions (model is a multi-class classifier). Code shown below:

            Installing scipy and scikit-learn on apple m1
            Asked 2022-Mar-22 at 06:21

            The installation on the m1 chip for the following packages: Numpy 1.21.1, pandas 1.3.0, torch 1.9.0 and a few other ones works fine for me. They also seem to work properly while testing them. However when I try to install scipy or scikit-learn via pip this error appears:

            ERROR: Failed building wheel for numpy

            Failed to build numpy

            ERROR: Could not build wheels for numpy which use PEP 517 and cannot be installed directly

            Why should Numpy be build again when I have the latest version from pip already installed?

            Every previous installation was done using python3.9 -m pip install ... on Mac OS 11.3.1 with the apple m1 chip.

            Maybe somebody knows how to deal with this error or if its just a matter of time.

            Please see this note of scikit-learn about

            Installing on Apple Silicon M1 hardware

            The recently introduced macos/arm64 platform (sometimes also known as macos/aarch64) requires the open source community to upgrade the build configuation and automation to properly support it.

            At the time of writing (January 2021), the only way to get a working installation of scikit-learn on this hardware is to install scikit-learn and its dependencies from the conda-forge distribution, for instance using the miniforge installers:

            https://github.com/conda-forge/miniforge

            The following issue tracks progress on making it possible to install scikit-learn from PyPI with pip:

            You need to specify the events which you want your bot to receive using gateway intents.

            Instead of

            const client = new Discord.Client();

            Use

            const client = new Discord.Client({ intents: [Enter intents here] })

            For example

            const client = new Discord.Client({ intents: ["GUILDS", "GUILD_MESSAGES"] })

            Unfortunatelly, it's not possible to use expressions with uses now.

            One possible workaround (that I used for myself) is to push reusable workflow(s) to one of the stable branches (main/master/develop/etc.) and use SHA as a ref.

            Additional benefit here is that using SHA is actually the recommended way described here.

            Since C++17 the order of evaluation is specified such that the operands of = are evaluated right-to-left and those of << are evaluated left-to-right, matching the associativity of these operators. (But this doesn't apply to all operators, e.g. + and other arithmetic operators.)
