As is visible from the image, the scaffolding for the rangeslider is generated but the trace inside it is not. It is also fully functional otherwise. With some experiment, I found that only if you set the no. of rows to 500 or less, it displays correctly. Is there a way to display it for rows more than that? Here is the code to reproduce-

            QUESTION

How do you attach a range slider's thumb to a corner of a div to adjust the size of that div based on the slider's value?
            Asked 2021-May-21 at 22:21

I'm trying to build this range slider where the thumb is attached to the bottom right corner of a rectangle (specifically, the center of the thumb is attached to the bottom right corner). So far I've tried styling the track with no luck especially because I want to have borders on the slider so I then attempted to do it by building it with CSS Grid and having column width change. This example is my latest attempt with Flexbox and changing the width of a background element.

The maximum range of the slider is 100, so I use that value to change the percentage of the background element. With all of these methods that I have tried, I always run into the same problem; depending on where the range slider is, the thumb and the corner do not align perfectly.

I'm sure there's something I've missed or a better way to accomplish what I want, so after hours of trying on my own, I figured it's time to get some help.

The code in the example is just a snippet of a more complex slider that can also be manipulated with a number input, so this issue is really noticeable when fine tuning the value.

            ANSWER

            Answered 2021-May-21 at 22:21

Because the thumb is contained inside the slider's track, a value of 0 doesn't result in the thumb's center being at 0px. The thumb's left edge is at 0px. It's center is at half the thumb's width.

For the same reason, a value of 100% places the thumb's right edge at 100%. Its center is at the end of the track minus half the thumb's width.

So you need to account for this when computing the width of your element.

The offset is just the percentage (the slider's value) of the thumb size, normalized to be centered on a slider value of 50. So you get a positive (rightward) offset at 0 and a negative (leftward) offset at 100:

Creating Multiple sliders using rangeslider.js plugin
            Asked 2021-May-17 at 14:51

I am working on a photo editing page. The goal is for users to be able to adjust parameters such as hue, saturation, brightness by uploading pictures and then editing them using range sliders. In order to ensure the program worked well on mobile browsers I decided to use the rangeslider.js library. After getting an initial slider up and working I decided to try more advanced designs. I found this design online and like it. My goal now is to have multiple slider each which displays its value like the linked slider. I am having trouble achieving this. To keep things simple I am currently formatting my slider using the standard css from rangeslider.js. I am able to create a single slider which behaves like the one in the linked design, but now I want to generalize this to multiple sliders, which is where I am having trouble. In the single design the code relevant to creating the rangeslider is

It turns out that this is a variable scope problem more than anything. An incredibly useful resource to explain this problem and its solution is "JavaScript Callbacks Variable Scope Problem" by Itay Grudev.

Essentially because the callback variable is created in a for loop use of the variable i (the looping variable) is not a good idea. This is because on later calls the value of i is not known to the callback function because it is outside of its scope. There are multiple ways to fix this as described by Itay Grudev. The easiest is to change

As far as I know, it may be possible in dash, but it does not exist in plotly. The question you quoted also suggests a range slider as a substitute for the scroll function. At the same time, the range slider is integrated with the graph, so if you don't make the slider function independent, it will disappear on scrolling, which is not a good idea. I think the solution at the moment is to have 50 channels side by side and add a slider.
