TL;DR: How can I access variables/functions/names that are defined in ES Modules from the debugger?
More context: I'm a relatively experienced JavaScript programmer, but new to Modules. I've followed the tutorial at MDN here: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Guide/Modules. They have a good set of examples here: https://github.com/mdn/js-examples/tree/master/modules
In that collection, say in the "basic-modules" example, (live code here: https://mdn.github.io/js-examples/modules/basic-modules/) there is, for example, a function called random
in the file modules/square.js
. Suppose I want to execute that function in the debugger, just to try it out, or because it's my code and I want to test/debug it, or I want to demonstrate to another coder what the function does. All the stuff you expect to do in a REPL or debugger. Is there a way to do that? I've tried both the Firefox debugger and the Chrome debugger, with no luck.
Back in the pre-Modules era, that code would be put into the global namespace (making access easy) or it would be locked up in an IIFE (making access impossible) or maybe in some home-made module system (access depends). I am hoping that the new Modules system still allows the debugger access to the names inside modules.

Last but not least, let's make this clear — module features are imported into the scope of a single script — they aren't available in the global scope. Therefore, you will only be able to access imported features in the script they are imported into, and you won't be able to access them from the JavaScript console, for example. You'll still get syntax errors shown in the DevTools, but you'll not be able to use some of the debugging techniques you might have expected to use.
To take your example from before, you'll need to invoke that function from a scope where it is visible, i.e where it's been imported:

I'm basically trying to achieve a kaleidoscopic effect with just one side, but I'm working with lots of Points, so I'd like that to happen in the shader. However if there's a Threejs trick that mirrors half of the texture or the Points object, that would be great. I tried to apply transformation matrices but I can't get it to work.
I found an old KaleidoShader that requires the usage of EffectComposer, but I'd like to implement it manually myself (without EffectComposer) and I'm struggling to do so. I'm using an FBO and I tried adding the code from that shader in both my simulation and render shaders but it's having no effect at all. Do I have to add yet another FBO texture or is it possibile to do those calculations in one of the existing shaders?

I have used the superimpose example to superimpose one pdf onto another. I am running into some trouble when trying to superimpose a page from a source file with a rotation of 90 degrees onto the destination page which has 0 rotation but is landscape (it's wider than it is tall).
When i first tried to stamp the content as in the example, it got the content rotated -90 as in the left example in the image below. When I tried to set the rotation of the destination page, the source content was placed in the right orientation but the destination page had turn (right example in the image below).

to work, both inputs should have the same shape.
To perform a concatenation, you can use tf.concat([h_t, h_s])
. The new shape will depend on the axis over which the concatenation is performed.
Lets suppose that both h_t
and h_s
have the shape [a, b]
, if the concatenation is done over the axis 0, then the new shape would be [2a, b]
and if it is done over the axis 1, the resulting shape would be [a, 2b]
Then you can apply the tf.tanh
to the input or create a customize layer that does it for you.
Update:
Since the tf.layers.dot is performed over 3d data who happen not to match on the second axis (axis = 1), the concatenation can be done only on that axis and the resulting shape would be [ 1, 10 + 12, 64 ]

I'm trying to implement GradCam (https://arxiv.org/pdf/1610.02391.pdf) in tfjs, based on the following Keras Tutorial (http://www.hackevolve.com/where-cnn-is-looking-grad-cam/) and a simple image classification demo from tfjs, similar to (https://github.com/tensorflow/tfjs-examples/blob/master/webcam-transfer-learning/index.js) with a simple dense, fully-connected layer at the end.
However, I'm not able to retrieve the gradients needed for the gradcam computation. I tried different ways to retrieve gradients for the last sequential layer, but did not succeed, as types of tf.LayerVariable from the respective layer is not convertible to the respective type of tf.grads or tf.layerGrads.
Did anybody already succeeded to get the gradients from sequential layer to a tf.function like object?
