How can I remove markers from the map using the checkboxes on the left?
            Asked 2020-Apr-04 at 12:26

Here is my work in progress app. My aim is to show surfing spots on a map with its current wind speeds and its difficulty level (based on how high the wind speed is)

I am new to React and I'm still learning as I go.

How can I change the markers on the map with my check-boxes on the left.

If you want to change the marker dynamically you have to set a flag on marker json, so if the user press the checkbox you just play on re-rendering on marker json with a flag that get from checkbox.

passport logout() error: Cast to ObjectId failed for value "logout" at path "_id" for model "somemodel(not the user model)"
            Asked 2018-Oct-23 at 14:12

I'm a hobbyist coder, and I can usually solve errors with lots of searches, but this one I can't get it right.

when I hit my logout route it throws an error: Cast to ObjectId failed for value "logout" at path "_id" for model "Spot"

I tried mongoose version 4.7.2, it's not working. I can't imagine why is it associating my logout route with the spot model at all.

Because app.get("/:id", ...) is written before app.get("/logout", ...) in your code, I guess the request handler of /:id would be called when you get /logout. Then, req.params.id becomes "logout" and the error is thrown by Spot.findById().

How about trying to write app.get("/logout", ...) before app.get("/:id", ...)?

Why are cards being lost in Javascript ES6 "Game of War"?
            Asked 2018-Jan-30 at 21:47

To gain a better understanding of Javascript ES6 and object oriented programming in general, I decided to try writing a simple Game of War.

At first glance, the game seems to run fine... it always returns the name of the winning player, and because it is a game of chance it seems to return any given player about 50% of the time.

However, upon closer inspection it appears that something is terribly wrong. The issue is that upon each successive turn, the total number of cards in the game is decreasing rather than staying at a constant 52.

The game utilizes five different classes, all listed below, and a war.js file that instantiates a game and logs the winner.

Run the game with node war.js

thats because the winner should also keep his own card.
