            Giving size to Frame
            Asked 2021-Jun-15 at 23:40

Is it possible to specify size of a frame in a tkinter window.

What i am trying to do is I have two Frames inside a MAIN frame and I need them to take the available space in 7:3 Ratio.

I failed to find solution to my problem.

            My expected result is this.

            1. Which layout manager will provide me this feature
            2. Will it restrict any other feature

One way would be to use the place with relx, rely, relheight and relwidth.

React Native - Justify Content not Working
            Asked 2021-Jun-15 at 21:59

I've been struggling with this all over my react-native app, so I set up a very simple example of it in codesandbox which you can view here:

            https://codesandbox.io/s/elastic-star-5754q?file=/src/App.js

Within the View with the green background, all of the internal views are centered horizontally within their respective spaces as I would expect thanks to the "alignItems: center" style property. I would expect that I could also center them vertically within their spaces by setting "justifyContent: center", but that doesn't seem to work for me.

            Am I fundamentally misunderstanding something?

            ANSWER

            Answered 2021-Jun-15 at 21:59

The problem is that you are not aligning the text within the individual Views. Your example mistakenly aligns the inner View elements within the larger View element rather than aligning the text.

To center-align the text vertically within their Views you just need to add justifyContent: "center" to those individual three green Views.

            Here's an example: https://codesandbox.io/s/recursing-kirch-n8one?file=/src/App.js:393-417

To further explain why you were experiencing the issue you did, see this screenshot with boxes outlining the space the elements were taking up on-screen:

You can see the inner Views are only taking up the needed width of the text elements inside, but are using the max height available to them.

How to get rid of vertical hover gaps in a wrapped anchor tag?
            Asked 2021-Jun-15 at 20:57

When I hover over the anchor tag, it flickers. It's because there are vertical gaps between the lines of the wrapped anchor tag. Moreover, if I happen to click between the lines, the link doesn't activate. I would like to get rid of this flickering and vertical hover gaps that cause it. The rest of the layout including apparent line height and button position (on the same line as the last word of the anchor tag) should stay the same.

I was thinking about this for a couple of days with no luck. The best alternative I have is using inline-block on the anchor tag, but that clears the button to the next line, which wastes too much space.

When an element has spaces in the class attribute, that means it has multiple classes, so you'll need to handle that another way.

One option is with CSS selectors.

what is the best regular expression to replace non numeric character in a string preceded by certain phrase in python?
            Asked 2021-Jun-15 at 20:02

I have to parse lists of names, addresses, etc. that were OCRed and have invalid/incorrect characters in them and on the state postal code I need to recognize the pattern with a 2 character state followed by a 5 digit postal code and replace any non numeric characters in the postal code. I might have OK 7-41.03 at the end of a string I need to remove the hyphen and period. I know that re.sub('[^0-9]+', '', '7-41.03') will remove the desired characters but I need it only replace characters in numbers when found at the end of the string and only if preceded by a two character state wrapped in spaces like OK. It seems if I add anything to the regular expression as far as a lookbehind expression then I can't seem to get the characters replaced. I've come up with the following but I think there must be a simpler expression to accomplish this. Example:

So make the batch script read the text document, and use the information in there to create it's own variable. eg.

Qt - trying to align two GroupBoxes in a layout
            Asked 2021-Jun-15 at 17:18

A part of my form contains QGroupBox (Status Box) with 4 child QGroupBoxes arranged in a grid layout (2x2). Two bottom QGroupBoxes (Widget 1 Box and Widget 2 Box) contain widgets of fixed size (with set minimumSize and maximumSize) so they're non-resizable at all in both directions. Because of that rigid size constraints top row of QGroupBoxes (Summary Box and Helper Box) can only be resized in vertical direction.

And here comes the troublesome part. Top-left QGroupBox (Summary Box) have grid layout 5x3 while top-right (Helper Box) have vertical layout with 6 rows. If I have naive widget placement as shown on picture 1 Qt is enlarging vertical size of both labels in top row to make height of both QGroupBoxes equal (see red arrows on picture 1).

This is definitely that I don't want so I've added vertical spacer to the bottom of Summary Box and from the first glance it worked (picture 2). But only from the first glance... What you see is the minimum height of my whole form and the bottom side of spacer and last QCheckBox in the Helper Box seems to be aligned.

If I'm expanding my form vertically this spacer grows a bit and that causes the increase of height of both top QGroupBoxes. As a result spacing between QCheckBoxes increases too and we can also see that top and bottom spacing are unequal for the top-right box (see red arrows on picture 3).

I've tried to play with sizeType for my vertical spacer. If I set it to Minimum or MinimumExpanding then the spacer doesn't grow on resize (and doesn't shrink, too) but it appears to be expanded to the size as on picture 3 (corrupting spacings between QCheckBoxes too). If I set it to Maximum, Preferred or Expanding then I observe the same behavior as described above for picture 3.

What is the proper way to achieve alignment for two QGroupBoxes in a row of grid without affecting spacing between elements (e. g. in that case make vertical spacer to fit only single row of grid layout and never expand/shrink)?

            ...

            ANSWER

            Answered 2021-Jun-15 at 17:18

Items will be aligned if both QGroupBoxes have same count of children and each row have at least one child with Expanding vertical policy. Instead of spacer use QWidget

I removed unrelated widgets and reduces number of rows to 4 for demonstration purposes (less xml).
