Vuejs Webpack Compression Plugin not compressing
            Asked 2022-Mar-28 at 12:53

I need help debugging Webpack's Compression Plugin.

            SUMMARY OF PROBLEM

            • Goal is to enable asset compression and reduce my app's bundle size. Using the Brotli algorithm as the default, and gzip as a fallback for unsupported browsers.
            • I expected a content-encoding field within an asset's Response Headers. Instead, they're loaded without the field. I used the Chrome dev tools' network tab to confirm this. For context, see the following snippet:
            • No errors show in my browser or IDE when running locally.

            WHAT I TRIED

            • Using different implementations for the compression plugin. See below list of approaches:
              1. (With Webpack Chain API)

It's not clear which server is serving up these assets. If it's Express, looking at the screenshot with the header X-Powered-By, https://github.com/expressjs/compression/issues/71 shows that Brotli support hasn't been added to Express yet.

There might be a way to just specify the header for content-encoding manually though.

Vuex plugin uses store option to assign store instance to Vue.prototype.$store, similarly to your own plugin.

If the intention is to use multiple stores, their names shouldn't collide. The key is to name your store object inside plugin something other than $store

            QUESTION

Vue 3: Module '"../../node_modules/vue/dist/vue"' has no exported member
            Asked 2022-Jan-24 at 08:38

After updating my npm packages, some of the imports from the 'vue' module started showing errors:

TS2305: Module '"../../node_modules/vue/dist/vue"' has no exported member 'X'

where X is nextTick, onMounted, ref, watch etc. When serving the project, Vue says it's "failed to compile". WebStorm actually recognizes the exports, suggests them and shows types, but the error is shown regardless. Some exports like computed and defineComponent work just fine.

            What I've tried:

            • Rollback to the previously used Vue version "3.2.2" > "3.0.11". It makes the abovementioned type errors disappear, but the app stops working entirely, showing lots of TypeError: Object(...) is not a function errors in console and not rendering the app at all. In the terminal, some new warnings are introduced: "export 'X' (imported as '_X') was not found in 'vue' where X is createElementBlock, createElementVNode, normalizeClass and normalizeStyle.
            • Rollback other dependencies. None of the ones that I tried helped fix the problem, unfortunately.
            • Manually declare the entirety of 'vue' module. We can declare the 'vue' module exports in shims-vue.d.ts, and it actually makes the errors disappear, however, this seems like a terrible, time-consuming workaround, so I would opt out for a better solution if possible.

That named exports from composition API are unavailable means that vue is Vue 2 at some place which has only default export. Since Vue 3 is in dependencies and both lock file and node_modules were refreshed, this means that Vue 2 is nested dependency of some direct dependency.

The problem needs to be investigated in lock file. It shows that @vue/cli-plugin-unit-jest@4.5.13 depends on vue-jest@3 which depends on vue@2.

A possible solution is to upgrade @vue/cli-plugin-unit-jest to the latest version, next. The same likely applies to other @vue/cli-* packages because they have matching versions.

The preferable method in modular environment (which Vue 3 setup is commonly is) is to just import api in places where it's used, regardless of whether it's used inside or outside the component.

The solution with Vue global property originated at the time when Vue applications weren't necessarily modular so they relied on Vue instance as global application scope. Currently it's suitable only for properties that are primarily used in a template and require boilerplate code to import and expose them. The example is $t in vue-i18n.

The solution with provide/inject is usable for cases that need dependency injection. A common case is a library that require dependencies to be loosely coupled. Another one is that a dependency depends on component hierarchy and may vary between components.

The solution with window should be avoided, unless application is divided into separate scripts that cannot interact through common JS modules. Even then the problem is that a script that defines global variable should be loaded before those that use it.

            QUESTION

Which method of adding an element to the array property of a Vuex state property correct?
            Asked 2021-Dec-09 at 22:22

So I have an action that makes a POST request to an endpoint that creates a comment for a particular artwork. On the components which renders the artwork and its comments, I dispatch an action in the onMounted() hook that makes a GET request for the artwork with that id, and then stores it in the Vuex.

Once the POST request that creates the comment goes through, I can access the artwork property in the store, and just push the response to the comments property which is an array of comments. I don't know if this is the correct way to do it though, since from what I understand any state change should be done through mutations, so directly accessing the state and pushing array elements into it seems incorrect?

This is my action that creates a comment and pushes the response to the selected artwork's comments property:

VueJS get asynchronous state without complex v-if statements
            Asked 2021-Dec-07 at 18:15

I have an application that uses Vue-Router and Vuex (Store).

On the Dashboard component, user information is shown. Vue pulls that user information from a database (async) and pushes it to the Store.

Now, in my subcomponents, I access this information via the Store. The problem is, on the initial loading of a subcomponent, the user entry in the store is empty. TypeError: $setup.user is null. Now, one way to get around this is to put a v-if in front of every element. However, I find this to be tidious.

Can I get around, putting a v-if in every html-element?

It seems that you have problems with peer dependencies, if you just set your npm to use legacy dependency logic to install your packages you will solve the problem.

Just add to your Dockerfile this setting before running npm install:

Order of Execution for VueJS dispatch function is causing an issue
            Asked 2021-Nov-27 at 07:31

I'm trying to display a list of announcements (retrieved from API) on the page. I'm using Vuex store and I have a state called announcements. I also want this list to be updated every time the user refreshes/enters the page. So I used lifecycle hooks, particularly the mounted(). I have a dispatch function that takes a club ID as a parameter. The issue is that I try to access the announcement array in the Vue component, it is one "step" behind the version in the Vuex store.

The Following is in the Vue component ClubDetails.vue

            ...

            ANSWER

            Answered 2021-Nov-27 at 07:31

This is because this.$store.dispatch('ClubDetails/getAnnouncements', this.club_id) is making a response to a server and is asynchronus and takes time for the announcemnts to be fetched from the server. While console.log("After dispatch function") gets executed before a response is recieved from the server.

Thats why you see After dispatch function first and inside dispatch function later.

Try putting await before the dispatch like this.
