When using frameworks, loading the Maps Javascript API is not as simple as putting it in the index.html unlike in vanilla javascript. One way to do this and not rely on 3rd party libraries is to instead load the script dynamically in the map component.

            QUESTION

Use multiple Google Map Account for websites on the same server
            Asked 2018-Jul-10 at 14:35

I have one real website using google map and It is binded with several domains. Each domain serves for a separated group of client.

Google map announces new policy updates that apply from 11th june 2018 that decrease free limit usage from 25K map loads per day to 28K map load per month

My questions is Can I use map api key which generated from separated google account to increase free usage ?

I have read this question carefully use multiple Google Maps API Keys for same server?

But link seems broken and I can't find relevant information as answer on that question or some other questions too

In my case, although my sites have the same code based and IP, however they works like different sites on shared hosts. One more thing, Google assigns free usage based on account (not google map key) so I think I can use multiple account to increase limit

So can I do this ? I don't want to break Google rules and I appreciate for any comment

How many Google Maps API Keys do I need?
            Asked 2018-Jul-08 at 07:56
            The Issue

I haven't actually seen this question addressed adequately anywhere.

I'm using a WordPress plugin that requires a Google Maps API Key. What I'm wondering, is can I use one API Key for all the websites and applications that I manage or do I need a separate API key for each property or app?

For instance, I was pleased to find that I only need one Google Webmaster Tools account which I can use to manage ALL my websites, including ones I've made for an am managing for others.

However, with Google Maps it's not that clear. Do I need a separate API Key for every application I make?

Where I've Looked For Answers So Far:

What I've pulled from those posts is that you can have multiple API keys, but you don't need any API keys, but there are many different flavors of Google Maps API keys (huh?) ... it's a bit confusing.

            My Question

            If I am making a website for clients A, B, & C does "client-a.com" need a different API Key than "client-b.com"?

            Note

This question is not just about Google Maps, but that was the actual API that brought the confusion about.

            1. If I am making a website for clients A, B, & C does "client-a.com" need a different API Key than "client-b.com"?

Typically, yes. You're going to whitelist the various maps API's on a per-domain basis. And you may be rate-limited. It's better for organizational purposes and if you need to pass on fees to a client if you're separating the keys.

            1. Are there any "go-to" plain-English docs (not tech-manual-ese like a Perl man-page) that explain with good examples (Sitepoint has a really good way of explaining things with conversational writing, and walking you through WHY we do things in programming, not just how) when and where to use API keys and which ones to use?

Google just re-shuffled their Maps platform in a big way. It may take some time for the definitive third-party guides to be written. Here's their recent announcement.

            1. Can I let my friend borrow my API Key to build his app? What are the ramifications of doing such?

Sure you can, but he may impact your rate limits.

            1. Can I use a Google Maps API key for any other Google app (docs, sheets, YouTube, G+, etc.)? Is a Google API key universal to all apps that integrate/interface with a Google product?

            It's just for Google Maps.

How to use gradle to replace Google Maps API key?
            Asked 2018-Mar-20 at 11:57

I use one among many options to store my API keys in the computer/keychain rather than directly in the cloud-backed-up project code (namely gradle-credentials-plugin ). What I'd like is to be able to manage Google Maps keys in a similar way, but they're used in a different file (Manage Google Maps API Key with Gradle in Android Studio).

If anyone has a simple (or intricate, but reliable) option for me to dig into, I'd be grateful!

Anything you output as HTML can be scraped by anyone visiting your website. You can't access variables etc in HTML as it is the final output, generated server side once it has processed all your variables.

As you are using the Javascript library then there is no way to hide your key. Javascript is executed on the client's browser, so you have to pass them your API key for it to work.

If all you need are static maps then you can generate them server side and return them in your HTML without ever revealing your key to the end user.

PHP requires the Visual C runtime (CRT). The Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2019 is suitable for all these PHP versions, see visualstudio.microsoft.com. You MUST download the x86 CRT for PHP x86 builds and the x64 CRT for PHP x64 builds. The CRT installer supports the /quiet and /norestart command-line switches, so you can also script it.
