QUESTION
I am trying to install jenkins on my kubernetes cluster under jenkins
namespace. When I deploy my pv and pvc, the pv remains available and does not bind to my pvc.
Here is my yamls:
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jun-15 at 09:52Based on the storage class spec, I think the problem is the volumeBindingMode
being set as WaitForFirstConsumer
which means the PV will remain unbound until there is a Pod to consume it.
You can change it Immediate
to allow the PV to be bound immediately without requiring to create a Pod.
You can read about the different volume binding modes in detail in the docs.
QUESTION
I am using the ECK operator, to create an Elasticsearch
instance.
The instance uses a StorageClass
that has Retain
(instead of Delete
) as its reclaim policy.
Here are my PVC
s before deleting the Elasticsearch
instance
ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jun-14 at 15:38with the hope that due to the Retain policy, the new pods (i.e. their PVCs would bind to the existing PVs (and data wouldn't get lost)
It is explicitly written in the documentation that this is not what happens. the PVs are not available for another PVC after delete of a PVC.
the PersistentVolume still exists and the volume is considered "released". But it is not yet available for another claim because the previous claimant's data remains on the volume.

QUESTION
I am trying to install my rancher(RKE) kubernetes cluster bitnami/mongodb-shared . But I couldn't create a valid PV for this helm chart.
The error that I am getting: no persistent volumes available for this claim and no storage class is set
This is the helm chart documentation section about PersistenceVolume: https://github.com/bitnami/charts/tree/master/bitnami/mongodb-sharded/#persistence
This is the StorageClass and PersistentVolume yamls that I created for this helm chart PVCs':
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jun-07 at 15:00The chart exposes two parameters that allow you to choose the StorageClass you want to use for your PVC(s) (otherwise it will use the 'default' one):
configsvr.persistence.storageClass
shardsvr.persistence.storageClass
Find more information in the Parameters section of the README.md
So basically you need to install the chart setting these parameters accordingly.
QUESTION
Is it possible via EFS provisioner to create PVC mounting to specific directory in the EFS. Current behaviour of the provisioner is that every time we use the storage class aws-efs it creates new sub directory in the EFS and pod was not able to see the existing directory in the EFS
EFS provisioner setup is inherited from this https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/4.2/storage/persistent_storage/persistent-storage-efs.html
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jun-07 at 20:48Solved by manually creating PVC and PV specifying existing EFS directory, storage class, nfs endpoint
QUESTION
I have successfully exposed two microservices on AWS with Traefik Ingress Controller and AWS HTTPS Load Balancer on my registered domain.
Here is the source code: https://github.com/skyglass-examples/user-management-keycloak
I can easily access both microservices with https url:
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jun-03 at 22:30Right - the admin console is listening on 127.0.0.1
. This is not the outside world interface. This is "localhost".
You have two choices here. You can start Keycloak with a command line argument like:
QUESTION
I am trying to create some persistent space for my Microk8s kubernetes project, but without success so far.
What I've done so far is:
1st. I have created a PV with the following yaml:
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jun-03 at 08:43the issue is that you are using the node affinity while creating the PV.
Which think something like you say inform to Kubernetes my disk will attach to this type of node. Due to affinity your disk or PV is attached to one type of specific node only.
when you are deploying the workload or deployment (POD) it's not getting schedule on that specific node and your POD is not getting that PV or PVC.
to resolve this issue
make sure both POD and PVC schedule at same node add the node affinity to deployment also so POD schedule on that node.
or else
Remove the node affinity rule from PV and create a new PV and PVC and use it.
here is the place where you have mentioned the node affinity rule
QUESTION
I'm trying to deploy the ELK stack to my developing kubernetes cluster. It seems that I do everything as described in the tutorials, however, the pods keep failing with Java errors (see below). I will describe the whole process from installing the cluster until the error happens.
Step 1: Installing the cluster
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-May-26 at 05:06For the ELK stack to work you need all three PersistentVolumeClaim's to be bound as I recall. Instead of creating 1 30 GB of PV create 3 of the same size with the claims and then re-install. Other nodes have unmet dependincies.
Also please do not handle the volumes by hand. There are guidelines to deploy dynamic volums. Use OpenEBS for example. That way you wont need to worry about the pvc's. After giving the pv's if anything happens write again with your cluster installation process.
I was wrong obviously, in this particular problem, filesystems and cgroups take role and the main problem of this is an old problem. From 5.2.1 to 8.0.0. Reinstall the chart by pulling the chart. Edit values file and definitely change the container version. It should be fine or create another error log stack.
QUESTION
Installing grafana using helm charts, the deployment goes well and the grafana ui is up, needed to add an existence persistence volume, ran the below cmd:
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-May-23 at 05:42NFS turns on root_squash
mode by default which functionally disables uid 0 on clients as a superuser (maps those requests to some other UID/GID, usually 65534). You can disable this in your mount options, or use something other than NFS. I would recommend the latter, NFS is bad.
