Purrr functional programming error when hitting blank values
            Asked 2022-Feb-23 at 18:47

Im sorry if this is a brainf*rt question - its probably a simple error handling. This code breaks when one of the variables hits a blank (in this case in the 'num_views' variable) - Is there a way to return an 'NA' for any blank values? I would be so grateful for any advice

The error response is: Error: All columns in a tibble must be vectors. Column num_views is a function.

CrawlSpider is meant for cases where you want to automatically follow links that match a particular pattern. If you want to obtain information from previous pages, you have to parse each page individually and pass information around via the meta request argument or the cb_kwargs argument. You can add any information to the meta value in any of the parse methods.

I have refactored the code above to use the normal scrapy Spider class and have passed the country value from the first page in the meta keyword and then captured it in subsequent parse methods.

Changing next page url within scraper and loading
            Asked 2022-Feb-08 at 13:49

I am trying to get within several urls of a webpage and follow the response to the next parser to grab another set of urls on a page. However, from this page I need to grab the next page urls but I wanted to try this by manipulating the page string by parsing it and then passing this as the next page. However, the scraper crawls but it returns nothing not even the output on the final parser when I load item.

Note: I know that I can grab the next page rather simply with an if-statement on the href. However, I wanted to try something different in case I had to face a situation where I would have to do this.

Your use case is suited for using scrapy crawl spider. You can write rules on how to extract links to the properties and how to extract links to the next pages. I have changed your code to use a crawl spider class and I have changed your FEEDS settings to use the recommended settings. FEED_URI and FEED_FORMAT are deprecated in newer versions of scrapy.

We had an app developed for us but are wanting to expand its functionality. The app has a few features but for this context it is a property app similar to Zoopla for example.

It uses firebase for its database where there is a 'Homes' collection, with each home being a document with an 'id' field which is also the name of the document. I have configured the app to create dynamic links allowing users to share properties.

            Answered 2021-Nov-02 at 00:47

I'm not 100% sure about your question. It seems like you're asking "How does the system know what home is associated with the cell that a user taps in the table" Here's that info.

When the user taps a row in the table view, the system sends the "index path" for that item to func tableView(_ tableView: UITableView, didSelectRowAt indexPath: IndexPath). The index path describes the section and row that was tapped.

Your code above calls tableView.deselectRow(at: indexPath, animated: true) to remove the highlight from the selected cell. It then asks the view model to look up the cell record using viewModel.cellModels[indexPath.section][indexPath.row]. This is an instance of HomeListResultTableViewCellModel and the system determines which home was tapped by looking at the home property of that struct.

You probably need to look closer at the cellModels object to see how it handles using the indexes to look up a home.

pandas objects created by bs4 & regex elements are being printed as python lists
            Asked 2020-Aug-18 at 01:41

I'm scraping house data from zoopla.co.uk

I'm getting the data I want but three elements are being printed to the csv file and dataframes as python lists. The two elements bathrooms and bedrooms are strings so they get printed correctly, but the other three elements that were found by using regex, house_price, house_type, and station_distance are printed as lists types.

Should I not be using regex and be using bs4 only? I cannot simply just use the replace function right? Thanks in advance.
