QUESTION
I want to create a Google script to check if a given URL is indexed by Google, so I write the following function:
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jun-15 at 06:28Unfortunately doing this directly by attempting to web scrape the search results using UrlFetchApp will not work. You can use third party tools to get the number of search results, however.
More Information:I tested this out using an exponential backoff method which sometimes is able to get past 429
errors when a fetch request is invoked by UrlFetchApp
.
When using UrlFetchApp
to either web scrape or to connect to an API, it can happen that the server denies the request on the grounds of too many requests
- or HTTP Error 429
.
Google Apps Script runs in the cloud, from a set of IP addresses in a pool that Google own. You can actually see all the IP ranges here. Most websites (especially large companies such as Google) have architecture in place to prevent the use of bots scraping their websites and slowing down traffic.
Sometimes it's possible to get past this error, using a mixture of exponential backoff and random time intervals as shown for the Binance API (Full Disclosure: this GitHub repository was written by me.)
I assume that either Google directly blocks the Apps Script IP pool, or there are simply too many people trying the same thing - because with the same techniques I was unable to get any response that didn't involve entering a captcha as we discussed in the comments above and can be seen in the log of the page
string.
There are many third party APIs that you can use to do this, and I suggest searching for one that meets your needs.
I tested out one called Authoritas which returns search engine indexing for different keywords. The API is asynchornous, so can take up to a minute to get a response, so a Web App solution needs to be made.
The flow I used is as follows:
- Obtain API key from Authoritas (free)
- Create a new Apps Script project to make an API call:
QUESTION
Hello all!
I recently learned that in newer versions of SQL Server, the query optimizer can "expand" a SQL view and utilize inline performance benefits. This could have some drastic effects going forward on what kinds of database objects I create and why and when I create them, depending upon when this enhanced performance is achieved and when it is not.
For instance, I would not bother creating a parameterized inline table-valued function with a start date parameter and an end date parameter for an extremely large transaction table (where performance matters greatly) when I can just make a view and slap a WHERE
statement at the bottom of the calling query, something like
ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jun-14 at 22:08You will not find this information in the documentation, because it is not a single feature per se, it is simply the compiler/optimizer working its way through the query in various phases, using a number of different techniques to get the best execution plan. Sometimes it can safely push through predicates, sometimes it can't.
Note that "expanding the view" is the wrong term here. The view is always expanded into its definition (NOEXPAND
excepted). What you are referring to is called predicate pushdown.
I've assumed here that indexed views and
NOEXPAND
are not being used.
When you execute a query, the compiler starts by parsing and lexing the query into a basic execution plan. This is a very rough, unoptimized version which pretty much mirrors the query as written.
When there is a view in the query, the compiler will retrieve the view's pre-parsed execution tree and shoves it into the execution plan, again it is a very rough draft.
With derived tables, CTEs, correlated and non-correlated subqueries, as well as inline TVFs, the same thing happens, except that parsing is needed also.
After this point, you can assume that a view may as well have been written as a CTE, it makes no difference.
Can the optimizer push through the view? The compiler has a number of tricks up its sleeve, and predicate pushdown is one of them, as is simplifying views.
The ability of the compiler here is mainly dependent on whether it can deduce that a simplification is permitted, not that it is possible.
For example, this query
QUESTION
So I have to create a sqlite table with a golang program so I did this:
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jun-14 at 08:20You should check for errors when doing statement.Exec()
as well as that would've pointed you to the actual error.
The problem lies where you do CURRRENT_TIMESTAMP
instead of CURRENT_TIMESTAMP
(note number of R
s in CURRENT
) and not using the DEFAULT
keyword for ReviewID
.
The syntax for creating a table is documented here: https://www.sqlite.org/lang_createtable.html
QUESTION
In this app, When i submit a word (for eg help) for the first time then it will return the search results and renders it on the page, but if i searched for another word then the results wont be displayed until and unless i refresh the page. How can i render next search results on the page? The codepen link is here: https://codepen.io/nelsonuprety1/pen/KKWreRQ . To search for new results the page should be refreshed.
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jun-14 at 08:34In your code you are adding new results to the right. After some searches the new results leave the view port and you can't see them. You can remove display: flex;

QUESTION
I'm trying to write an abbreviate function like so:

Answered 2021-Jun-13 at 16:52T.head
has type Text -> Char
, so the result of map T.head (T.splitOn " " xs)
is a value of type [Char]
. T.concat
has type [Text] -> Text
, so they are not compatible. Use T.pack
instead which has the correct type [Char] -> Text
(or String -> Text
which is the same thing).

ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jun-13 at 12:54When having issues like this you should start by checking two things:
First whether the css file that is being loaded actually includes your rules, because your browser may have a cached version stored and simply avoids loading it again.
If that is ok, then you should check whether or not your rules are being overwritten by any other rule included, that may be more specific or flagged as!important
The web inspector can help in both cases!
QUESTION
I have created a "lock" in Swift and an Atomic property wrapper that uses that lock, for my Swift classes as Swift lacks ObjC's atomic
property attribute.
When I run my tests with thread sanitizer enabled, It always captures a data race on a property that uses my Atomic property wrapper.
The only thing that worked was changing the declaration of the property wrapper to be a class instead of a struct and the main question here is: why it works!
I have added print
s at the property wrapper and lock init
s to track the number of objects created, it was the same with struct/class, tried reproducing the issue in another project, didn't work too. But I will add the files the resembles the problem and let me know any guesses of why it works.
Lock

Answered 2021-Jun-13 at 08:46This is question is answered in this PR: https://github.com/apple/swift-evolution/pull/1387
I think this is those lines that really explains it 💡
In Swift's formal memory access model, methods on a value types are considered to access the entire value, and so calling the wrappedValue getter formally reads the entire stored wrapper, while calling the setter of wrappedValue formally modifies the entire stored wrapper.
The wrapper's value will be loaded before the call to
wrappedValue.getter
and written back after the call towrappedValue.setter
. Therefore, synchronization within the wrapper cannot provide atomic access to its own value.
QUESTION
According to the libevent book:
Deferred callbacks
By default, a bufferevent callbacks are executed immediately when the corresponding condition happens. (This is true of evbuffer callbacks too; we’ll get to those later.) This immediate invocation can make trouble when dependencies get complex. For example, suppose that there is a callback that moves data into evbuffer A when it grows empty, and another callback that processes data out of evbuffer A when it grows full. Since these calls are all happening on the stack, you might risk a stack overflow if the dependency grows nasty enough.
To solve this, you can tell a bufferevent (or an evbuffer) that its callbacks should be deferred. When the conditions are met for a deferred callback, rather than invoking it immediately, it is queued as part of the event_loop() call, and invoked after the regular events' callbacks.
As described above:
- The event loop fetches a batch of events, and processes them one by one immediately.
- Before the fetched events are processed, any new event won't be fetched and processed.
- If an event was marked as
BEV_OPT_DEFER_CALLBACKS
, then it will be processed after all other events in the same batch are processed.
Provided two callbacks ca
and cb
. First, ca
is called, ca
finds evbuffer_A
is empty, then writes a message into it.
Then, cb
is called, and cb
finds evbuffer_A
contains a message, then fetch and send it out.
When cb
is called, ca
's stack has been released. I think there won't be a stack overflow in such a scenario.
So, my question is:
What's the purpose of deferred callbacks in libevent?
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jun-13 at 07:07The example given in the quoted text is a buffer being filled after one event and emptied after another event.
Consider this non-event driven pseudo-code for the same example.
