            How to connect Kafka with Elasticsearch?
            Asked 2020-May-11 at 20:36

            I am new in Kafka, I use kafka to collect netflow through logstash(it is ok), and I want to send the data to elasticsearch from kafka, but there are some problems.
            My question is how can I connect Kafka with Elasticsearch? netflow to kafka logstash config:

            I would suggest using Kafka Connect and its Elasticsearch sink. I actually presented on exactly this subject last night :) Here are the slides.

            You can see a detailed example here.

            I am trying to set up ELK stack with one of my Logstash filter on my local machine.

            I have an input file that comes into a kafka queue that is parse by my filter. Which outputs to elasticsearch. When I run my test.sh that runs the logstash filter on the input file, this is the resulting errors in logstash --debug

            I am not sure what this error could be, all of my settings are localhost and default ports. Any guidance as this error does not tell me much.

            You set logstash to connect to Zookeeper, not Kafka.

            Initialize connection to node localhost:2181

            Make sure the bootstrap server is localhost:9092, in your case

            Logstash Docker Image - Missing logstash-plugin?
            Asked 2018-Jan-31 at 11:22

            We are using Elastic's Logstash Docker image (docker.elastic.co/logstash/logstash-oss:6.1.2) as the base for our own Logstash Docker image build where we need to include a couple of logstash plugins for our own needs. However, when we look inside the base image under /opt/logstash/bin we can see that there is a logstash-plugin.bat file but there is no logstash-plugin.sh file. Is this file missing or are we looking at the wrong command for installing images?

            This is our Dockerfile which at the moment fails to include the given plugins into the new image when built:

            The problem was in the Dockerfile itself which was missing && in between RUN commands which was therefore removing the logstash-plugin from the folder instead of executing it to install a plugin.

            Correct Dockerfile:

            My structure is like this: Logfiles > Filebeat > Kafka > Logstash > Elasticsearch > Kibana

            First, Filebeat can produce the message to Kafka and i can check it by using:

            You need to use localhost:9092 for configuration parameter bootstrap_servers - you're pointing Logstash to Zookeeper, but you need to point to Kafka itself.

            Another error is that topics requires an array, so it should be ["test"] instead of "test"

            First you must install the logstash input plugin by running

            bin/logstash-plugin install logstash-input-jdbc

            And also If it does not help, try

            Java::com.mysql.jdbc.Driver

            instead of the

            com.mysql.jdbc.Driver

            for the jdbc_driver_class. I had a same kind of problem with oracle when I did not use the

            Java::

            before the oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver as the jdbc_driver_class.

            You most probably have a version conflict that is causing this issue. Check out the compatibility matrix in the Logstash Kafka input plugins documentation.

            The link you mentioned for installing Kafka has you install version 0.8.2.1 which will not work with Kafka 0.10 clients. Kafka has version checking and backwards compatibility, but only if the broker is newer than the client, which is not the case here. I'd recommend installing a current version of Kafka, there have been immense improvements since version 0.8 that you'd be missing out on if you tried downgrading Logstash instead.

            Check out the Confluent Platform Quickstart for an easy way to get started.

            The default serializer was changed in logstash 5 from byte array deserializer to string deserializer.

            key_deserializer_class => "org.apache.kafka.common.serialization.ByteArrayDeserializer" value_deserializer_class => "org.apache.kafka.common.serialization.ByteArrayDeserializer"
