QUESTION
I just launched the emulator App by double clicking it. It loaded (loading time is 10 to 15 min) with an audio to accept Microsoft licence agreement and login with current Microsoft id. It shows the licence agreement window as shown in below image:
Hololens Emulator Licence Agreement
I could not click the Accept button. So I could not proceed further. I used alt+mouse drag to bring the hand, but either the hand does not appear or sometimes even if it appears and moves, no raycast to point on the button. I tried toggling the Use mouse, use keyboard for simulation check boxes.
Emulator version: 10.0.20346.1002
My device sepc:
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHz 2.80 GHz, Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.9 GB usable), System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Windows Spec:
Edition Windows 10 Enterprise, Version 21H1, OS build 19043.1023, Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.2020.0
Windows SDK version - 10.0.20348.1
GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 1070, DirectX version: 12, Driver model: WDDM 2.7

Answered 2021-Jun-14 at 18:48Thanks Hernando - MSFT for helping me. The Accept button in the Licence agreemnet window can be clicked by moving back and forth the hand using W,A,S,D keys.
Previously i thought that i should click using a raycast pointer. It would be nice if i can click using raycast because the current approach is very difficult for any new users.
Additionally, sometimes mouse and keyboard inputs doesn't worked for me. This is because the 'Use Mouse' and 'Use Keyboard' check-boxes under the Simulation Panel is disabled. We have to ensure they are enabled for using mouse and keyboard for simulation inputs.
QUESTION
I have recently decided to try out Laravel Sail instead of my usual setup with Vagrant/Homestead. Everything seems to be beautifully and easily laid out but I cannot seem to find a workaround for changing domain names in the local environment.
I tried serving the application on say port 89 with the APP_PORT=89 sail up
command which works fine using localhost:89 however it seems cumbersome to try and remember what port was which project before starting it up.
I am looking for a way to change the default port so that I don't have to specify what port to serve every time I want to sail up. Then I can use an alias like laravel.test
for localhost:89
so I don't have to remember ports anymore I can just type the project names.
I tried changing the etc/hosts file but found out it doesn't actually help with different ports
I essentially am trying to access my project by simply typing 'laravel.test' on the browser for example.
Also open for any other suggestions to achieve this. Thanks
**Update ** After all this search I actually decided to change my workflow to only have one app running at a time so now I am just using localhost and my CPU and RAM loves it, so if you are here moving from homestead to docker, ask yourself do you really need to run all these apps at the same time. If answer is yes research on, if not just use localhost, there is nothing wrong with it
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Feb-12 at 20:06To change the local name in Sail from the default 'laravel.test' and the port, add the following to your .env file:
APP_SERVICE="yourProject.local"
APP_PORT=89
This will take effect when you build (or rebuild using sail build --no-cache
) your Sail container.
And to be able to type in 'yourProject.local' in your web browser and have it load your web page, ensure you have your hosts file updated by adding
127.0.0.1 yourProject.local
to your hosts file. This file is located:
- Windows 10 – “C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts”
- Linux – “/etc/hosts”
- Mac OS X – “/private/etc/hosts”
You'll need to close all browser instances and reopen after making chnages to the hosts file. With this, try entering the alias both with and without the port number to see which works. Since you already set the port via .env you may not need to include it in your alias.
If this doesn't work, change the .env APP_URL=http://yourProject.local:89
Ok another option, in /routes/web.php I assume you have a route set up that may either return a view or call a controller method. You could test to see if you can have this ‘return redirect('http://yourProject.local:89');’ This may involve a little playing around with the routes/controller, but this may be worth looking into.

QUESTION
I am running a Java based application and it is crashing due to Insufficient memory. Some output snippet of hs_err :
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Mar-04 at 01:48You've used -Xms to force the JVM to get ~30GB at JVM startup.
It has tried, and failed. It only obtained 8GB. It needs another 22-ish GB but cannot get it. That is what the error message is telling you. This is consistent with a dump that says the heap is only 8GB.
You're asking for more than the OS will provide. You'll need to figure out what's going on in the OS in general.
Your application code is probably not involved. The JVM is still initializing its heap in accordance with your command-line options.
QUESTION
not so long ago I started to practice with writing EOS smart contracts on my windows 10 computer. For this I needed to install among others, a Linux subsystem for Windows and Docker. In the last couple of days I noticed some pretty significant performance issues, when looking for the perpetrator in my task manager I came across Vmmem using up 1.8 GB of ram (which is quite a lot considering I have only 8GB on my laptop):
I Googled around some and figured out that this program handles virtual machines and such, and with that Docker. I don't have Docker Desktop or Ubuntu opened at the time of this screenshot, turned off the setting "Start Docker when you log in" and restarted my computer, but still this program is hogging up my RAM. As you may understand, it isn't worth it for me to keep this running in the background considering this EOS Development is a side-thing for me, hence I don't need to use Docker often. I would deem it a shame if I had to give up on this 'hobby' for performance issues so any help would be appreciated.

file in my home directory restricting the memory usage, which solved the problem.

QUESTION
I am searching for an specific information regarding kubernetes requests and limits and still didn't find an answer or just didn't understand quite well. Say I've defined two containers A and B for a single pod, both with its resources limits and requests:
A: RAM request: 1Gi RAM limit: 2Gi B: RAM request: 1Gi RAM limit: 2Gi
So, we have a PoD limit of 4Gi (total). Suppose the A container exceeded the limit (say +1Gi), but B is consuming 64Mi only. So, my questions are:
- What happens to the pod? Is it evicted?
- Is the container A restarted?
- Is the container A allowed to use the B's available RAM?
Thanks!
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jun-11 at 15:11Just to add some details
Memory request: Is the memory reserved for container, whether it is used completely or not.
Memory Limit: Is a restriction limit of max memory this container is supposed to use. So when containers memory requests exceeds, then whether to allocate or not depends on the free memory available in the machine running that container at that point of time
To answer your queries, from my understanding:
If Container A reaches its Memory limit of 2GI, it OOMed and this will restart the containers.
If Container A exceeds its Memory request of 1GI, it tries to get the required memory from whats available of the machine(max to what limit is set)
Hope this answers you queries
QUESTION
I'm working on a project that generates a large number of components. I'm having the problem that Quartus is generating an extremely large number of files in the /db directory, on the order of hundreds of thousands.
The system I am working on has limited storage that is also very slow. Just deleting the db folder is taking over 20mins, and for the project I have to do many separate builds, so it's a significant bottle neck.
Does Quartus support keeping the db archive in ram during synthesis?
Vivado has the -in-memory
option for the create_project
command. Is there a Quartus equivalent? I've look through the "Quartus II Scripting reference manual" and found nothing yet.
Quartus version is 19.1
Thank you.
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jun-11 at 19:08I was not able to find any option similar to -in-memory.
However, I'm working on a linux system, so by placing the build directory in tmpfs (ram file system) I was able to get a significant improvement in performance.
QUESTION
In my previous question (RAM not being freed in c# after working with files) I asked about a way to clear RAM. someone suggested using streams instead of reading it into a variable. I found Encrypting/Decrypting large files (.NET) which uses streams but it is not using AesGcm. The problem is that I can't find how to use AesGcm with streams. AesGcm.decrypt only accepts Byte[] in the ciphertext field, and AesManaged doesn't have CihperMode.GCM.
Currently, decryption takes 4GB of ram when decrypting an 800MB file. How can I decrypt a file with AesGcm without filling the RAM?
Thanks.
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Feb-01 at 14:24I'll say that AesGcm
(and probably AesCcm
) in .NET don't support "streaming" mode and it seems the consensus (https://crypto.stackexchange.com/questions/51537/delayed-tag-checks-in-aes-gcm-for-streaming-data) is that you shouldn't create a streaming mode AesGcm
. I'll add another reference about this https://github.com/dotnet/runtime/issues/27348 . I'm not an expert in cryptography so it isn't clear for me what are the problems about streaming an encrypted document and checking for its authentication tags only at the end.
If possible you should change the algorithm. Otherwise other solutions can be found. The Bouncycastle library supports AesGcm.
