Import saved KQL queries from ARM template to Azure Log Analytics
            Asked 2021-Apr-02 at 02:27

I've been setting up monitoring Azure Databricks in an Azure Log Analytics Workspace and managed to get logs going to an existing log analytics workspace I have.

However, I failed to notice that an ARM template was supplied for setting up a new workspace that contains a bunch of useful KQL saved queries.

I would like those saved queries in the log analytics instance I've started out with already, is there a way I can import them?

I've noticed there is an API for creating or updating saved queries, however, this seems to only create / update individual queries and I would prefer to import all the queries mentioned in the above link in one go. Is this possible?

No, there is no such feature for importing them.

You should create these saved queries by yourself, by using azure portal, or Saved Searches - Create Or Update rest api, or azure cli commands: az monitor log-analytics workspace saved-search create etc.

Databricks spark monitoring on Azure for Spark 3.0.0 and Scala 2.12
            Asked 2020-Oct-15 at 13:01

I have a Azure Databricks cluster that runs a cluster with Databricks version 7.1 (Spark 3.0.0 and Scala 2.12). I'm trying to send the Azure Databricks application logs to the Azure monitor, so I'm following this documentation.

In order to do so, I'm trying to build the spark-listeners-loganalytics-1.0-SNAPSHOT.jar JAR file as described in the GitHub readme.

To compile it, I need to edit the POM to create a Maven profile that includes my current Spark and Scala versions, so I have the following profile:

The library does not support Spark 3.0.0 and above yet. Issue 92 on the repo (https://github.com/mspnp/spark-monitoring/issues/92) shows the conversation and a comment that Microsoft will work on it this quarter but no timeline provided for when it will be available. One comment in the issue is from someone who created a branch and got it working, but some tests had to be removed so I am not using it on my project unless I put more work into understanding the changes.
