How to detect window resize in Linux
            Asked 2021-Jun-15 at 21:19

I'm working on a TUI (Text User Interface) library for C++, and I have a function for detecting the size of the console window. Is it possible for me to detect a window resize? I would prefer if it would work with any terminal emulator, but if it matters I am using Ubuntu Budgie 20.10, and my terminal emulator is Tilix.

You can set up a signal handler for the SIGWINCH signal, and you will get this signal whenever the terminal size changes. Note that, as with all signal handlers, any code in the signal handler must be signal-safe.

If you are using the curses library, you will get a KEY_RESIZE key, and then check COLS and LINES.

SQL*Loader is in the image - but the docker container is separate from your host OS, so ubuntu doesn't know any of the files or commands inside it exist. Any commands inside the container should be run as docker commands. If you try this, it should connect to your running container and print the help page:

Win 10 WSL won't set default version to 2 with Ubuntu
            Asked 2021-Jun-15 at 15:47

I have Windows 10 Pro Version 21H1 Build 19043.1052. I have followed the guide in https://docs.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/wsl/install-win10#step-4---download-the-linux-kernel-update-package and in Win 10 WSL won't set default 2 to get wsl. And I want to upgrade to version 2. I installed the regular Ubuntu from the Microsoft app store. And I did wsl --setdefault Ubuntu followed by wsl --set-default-version 2 and it only gave me For information on key differences with WSL 2 please visit https://aka.ms/wsl2. But wsl -l -v was still showing VERSION 1.

So I went an installed Ubuntu-20.04 LTS and now that version is showing VERSION 2 but not the regular Ubuntu one.

How can I get them both to version 2?

            ANSWER

            Answered 2021-Jun-15 at 15:47

When you do --set-default-version, you're setting the version for future distributions that you install. That doesn't convert or change any current distros you have installed. So for your existing Ubuntu distro that is version 1, you should use the wsl --set-version command to convert it to version 2 or revert back to version 1.

The Kubernetes project is making an effort to move away from wording that can be considered offensive, with one concrete recommendation being renaming master to control-plane. In other words control-plane and master mean essentially the same thing, and the goal is to switch the terminology to use control-plane exclusively going forward. (More info in this answer)

The kubectl command is a command line interface that executes on a client (i.e your computer) and interacts with the cluster through the control-plane. The IP address you are seing through cluster-info is the IP address through which you reach the control-plane

You are telling your server, you are sending JSON data, but the request body is not a JSON string but a url-encoded string (because that's the default behaviour of $.ajax() when you pass an object as data).

Use JSON.stringify, to pass a correct JSON body

GStreamer C library not working properly on Xubuntu
            Asked 2021-Jun-15 at 11:39

I am writing a program in C language using gtk3 library. I want it to be able to receive a h264 video stream from a certain IP address (localhost) and UDP/RTP PORT (5000).

In order to do it, I am using gstreamer to both stream and receive the video.

I managed to stream the video using the following pipeline :

            send.sh :

            gst-launch-1.0 filesrc location=sample-mp4-file.mp4 ! decodebin ! x264enc ! 'video/x-h264, stream-format=(string)byte-stream' ! h264parse ! rtph264p

I managed to display the video in a new window using the following pipeline :

            receive.sh :

            gst-launch-1.0 udpsrc port=5000 caps="application/x-rtp,encoding-name=H264" ! rtph264depay ! decodebin ! videoconvert ! autovideosink

At this point, everything works fine. But now I want to receive the stream and display it inside my C/GTK program. I am using the following code (found on internet and adapted to make it compile) :

Here is the solution I found :

            Changin xvimagesink by ximagesink :

            sink = gst_element_factory_make ("xvimagesink", NULL); g_assert(sink);

            becomes

            sink = gst_element_factory_make ("ximagesink", NULL); g_assert(sink);

Hope it will help some of you facing the same problem.

            UndeclaredThrowableException for custom Exceptions
            Asked 2021-Jun-15 at 10:54

I'm currently working on a project running a jboss backend server (server-ear:ear exploded artefact) and a java gui (java 11) as frontend.

The backend contains a java service bean which accesses a database server and throws a custom exception (extends exceptions), if the variable is not found. The GUI catches the custom exceptions with a try and catch block.

The code is build and run inside of Intellij + Maven.

If i try to execute the code following arrow pops up at runtime:

So for anyone interested what the problem was:

Since we are using a custom logger (ServiceLoggingInvocationHandler) which try catched the exceptions of an invoke method, the catched exceptions were already wrapped with an invocation exception and were not the original exceptions. To solve the problem we needed to unwrap the exceptions again before forwarding them.

Since the logger was only used in debugging mode and only when specified the problem was only occurring for me.

The remote path must be /, not \.

And the argument to createCopyCommand cannot be Path, as on Windows, that will translate the / to \.
