QUESTION
In A Brief Overview of Building at Eclipse it is mentioned that the PDE build is the 'old way' of building RCP-based applications. I wonder:
- Why it is considered outdated?
- What are the advantages of Tycho over PDE?
- Is the 'old way' going to deprecate?
ANSWER
Answered 2020-Aug-24 at 14:27PDE Build has been deprecated in Eclipse Neon (4.6) more than four years ago.
See Eclipse 4.6 review:
PDE Build is in maintenance mode and is no longer used to build the Eclipse platform itself
The advantage of Tycho, besides being newer, is the bootstrapping ability inherited from Maven. This allows you to build an Eclipse plugin, product, update site, etc. wherever Maven is supported, for example on GitHub in a workflow action.
QUESTION
I've successfully created a keystore to sign system apps to be tested on android emulators. I can install the apk on a 6.0
image but got no luck on a 8.0
image. It fails with the message:INSTALL_FAILED_SHARED_USER_INCOMPATIBLE Package xxx.yyy.zzz has no signatures that match those in shared user android.uid.system
. The keys that i used were the ones available on aosp-mirror github. Is there a way to sign an apk as a system app to be used on a 8.0 android emulator?
ANSWER
Answered 2018-Aug-03 at 16:38You should try to use an Emulator without Google API's or Google Play Services.
QUESTION
I'm implementing a build system for a cross-platform API with a custom build process. For each platform I have a rule that build the target, for example:
...ANSWER
Answered 2017-Oct-10 at 01:40You're correct, select is used for attributes not rules. You can get behavior like what you want be using the alias rule and applying a select on its "actual" argument.
For example, the following macro creates an alias rule that points to either a py_binary on Mac but a sh_binary on all other platforms
