What I did fumble with was my Package Protection level and how it interacts with Project Parameters that are marked as Sensitive.
I defined a Project Parameter named MySecretPassword
and populated it with SO_71308161 and marked it as sensitive.

For per-pod resource metrics (like CPU), the controller fetches the metrics from the resource metrics API for each Pod targeted by the HorizontalPodAutoscaler. Then, if a target utilization value is set, the controller calculates the utilization value as a percentage of the equivalent resource request on the containers in each Pod. If a target raw value is set, the raw metric values are used directly.
Your HPA is set to match the my-api-deployment
which has two containers. You have resource requests set for my-api
but not for esp
. So you just need to add a memory resource request to esp
.

I'm following the Getting started with Endpoints for GKE with ESPv2. I'm using Workload Identity Federation and Autopilot on the GKE cluster.
I've been running into the error:

Which ultimately leads to a transport failure error and shut down of the Pod.
My first step was to investigate permission issues, but I could really use some outside perspective on this as I've been going around in circles on this.

I have an API on google Endpoint, the backend is deployed on GKE and I'd like to expose it via an ingress so I can use IAP on it.
I am using ESP2.
I first deploy my service as a LoadBalancer and it was working.

I have developed a gRPC server in Java and a corresponding gRPC client in C#. The objective is to call the gRPC server from several gRPC clients deployed on Windows machines.
Having looked at how gRPC is supported in Azure, AWS, and the Google Cloud Platform (GCP), I will likely host the gRPC server on GCP. Therefore, I am currently testing the deployment scenario for the gRPC server as described by Google in the tutorial on gRPC on Compute Engine. In short words, this means the gRPC server runs in a custom-built Docker container on a Google Compute Engine (GCE) Virtual Machine (VM), right next to the Extensible Service Proxy (ESP), which runs in its own, preconfigured Docker container on the same VM.
An important aspect for use in production is the ability to establish a secure communication channel between the gRPC clients and the gRPC server, using SSL/TSL. This is where I am having problems in the cloud hosting scenario (but not in the self-hosting scenario, where this works nicely).
What works so far?The gRPC client, which runs on my local Windows 10 machine, communicates successfully with the gRPC server:
over a secure SSL/TLS channel in case I am self-hosting the server on my local Windows 10 machine; and
over an insecure channel in case I am hosting the server on GCE as described above.
I've issued the following commands on the GCE VM to create the docker containers for the successful client-server communication over the insecure channel.

- My application's deployed on a cluster.
- A single pod is deployed in Kubernetes.
- The pod is running two containers (ESP and my GPRC service)

Answered 2020-Jan-14 at 23:11A new day and a solution. I'll briefly explain the solution, but focus more on how I discovered it and what I would do differently.
Problem
The "Compute Engine default service account" was missing some permissions. Getting started with Cloud Endpoints on GKE does not use Datastore. My app does. Simply going to IAM & admin > IAM, and adding the "Cloud Datastore User" role to the service account fixed my problem.
Lessons
1. Logging in __init__
of the Python gPRC server doesn't provide as much cover as it seems. AFAICT, the main gRPC service module was being called/loaded in some way but the insufficient permissions meant from google.cloud import datastore

Answered 2020-Jan-01 at 08:02You have not specified how you deployed kube dns but with microk8s its recommended to use core dns. You should not deploy kube dns or core dns on your own rather you need to enable dns using this command microk8s.enable dns
which would deploy core DNS and setup DNS.
