            React Native (Expo) project raises "window.addEventListener is not a function"
            Asked 2021-Mar-27 at 21:30

            I've been trying to troubleshoot my project for the past day or so with no luck so far. Haven't documented the steps I've taken so far but will do my best to give an overview.

            Yesterday my app was running fine, I went to open the remote debugger, the app crashed with an error. I assumed it was nothing and carried on debugging for a bit. Eventually I started getting the error.

            Answered 2021-Mar-27 at 21:30

            Insert window.addEventListener = x => x; at the top level of your app.

            There is no global window.addEventListener function in React Native. The execution environment is different from a web browser.

            (errors installing Firebase)

            You can install firebase@8.2.3 - yarn add firebase@8.2.3 and I believe they've removed the grpc dependency in that version. Building native dependencies for Node packages commonly fails on Windows machines for a variety of reasons, you should search issues on repositories related to those packages for more information when you encounter in the future. eg: https://github.com/grpc/grpc-node/issues/1183

            I'm facing a very similar problem as this Github issue and I can't understand how can I fix it and why the types are being exported as const from firebase sdk.

            The code that reexports firebase types is the following:

            Answered 2021-Mar-23 at 12:45

            When using declare const firestore: typeof firebase.firestore, they've essentially declared that firestore is an object, with the shape of firebase.firestore, not a namespace of types. If I recall correctly, exporting these namespace-objects was done this way so package crawlers like Webpack could correctly identify which modules needed to be bundled.

            To prevent confusion, instead of importing @firebase/rules-unit-testing as firebase (which should be considered reserved), import it instead as rulesUnitTesting or similar.

            How to get data from Context API in getstaticprops function Next.JS
            Asked 2021-Mar-20 at 17:22

            I'm making payment function for my static e-commerce Next.JS app.

            For payment I've several stages:

            1. Making cart page with shipping information form and button "Pay" which redirect to /payment page;
            2. On /payment page I connect with my payment service and need to get cart info from Context API, but I can't use Context API in getStaticProps it's my problem.. Payment page needs just get cart data and redirects on external service payment form.

            Make paypal subscriptions API request to get subscription info on server - auth wrapper?
            Asked 2021-Feb-10 at 18:07

            I'd like to get a subscription information from the subscription API endpoint

            /v1/billing/subscriptions https://developer.paypal.com/docs/api/subscriptions/v1/#subscriptions

            It requires an auth bearer token, and I don't want to spend weeks setting up an auth handler. Paypal's current repos doesn't support subscriptions endpoint (or most others TBH...): checkout SDK and payouts SDK

            These probably have some auth wrapper but I'm struggling to determine how to use it to make fetch() calls from my server to the subscriptions endpoint, does anyone have a solution they've used?

            FYI: I'm using paypal smart buttons to create a subscription and then making an api call with subscription id to add details to user in DB

            Don't do that. Fetch calls should go to your server. Only your server should ever call subscription endpoints. There is no need for an auth handler, as the things you will be doing on the client side only require your clientID on the JS SDK line.

            Hi there and sorry for the troubles.

            I'm not very familiar with the js sdk, but the example we use here: https://github.com/knative/docs/blob/master/docs/serving/samples/cloudevents/cloudevents-nodejs/index.js#L64

            uses .send() instead of .json()

            As far as configuring the sequence, hopefully these examples help get the configuration of the sequence right: https://knative.dev/docs/eventing/flows/sequence/

            Does the sequence Status show any errors?

            And lastly, do you see any errors in the logs? Depending on which components you have installed this may vary, but if you're running the core and with InMemoryChannel the logs would be in knative-eventing namespace, and you'd see the imc-dispatcher-* pods which would provide a clue if the event is not constructed properly.

            Saving User's card in Square Payments
            Asked 2021-Jan-29 at 17:48

            I'm new to Square and want to implement it in a React Native app with a Node backend.

            I see that there is a method to save the customer's card details. https://github.com/square/square-nodejs-sdk/blob/master/src/api/customersApi.ts#L230

            But there is also the payment form? https://developer.squareup.com/docs/payment-form/how-it-works

            Firstly, I cannot see if the payment form is even available in React Native - information seems very scarce.

            Secondly, even if I do implement that form, I can't see a way to connect it to the customers API endpoint.

            I don't want to use in-app payments (i.e. google or apple pay). I want to be able to save card details like Amazon does, and use them whenever a user places an order in app (probably triggered by a node process). I'm not sure if I'm going about this the correct way, guidance would be appreciated.

            ANSWER

            Answered 2021-Jan-29 at 17:48

            In-App Payments SDK will be the way to go (and there is a React Native plugin already). The In-App Payments SDK is basically a mobile Square Payment Form, that you linked to. It will generate a secure nonce, and you can use the nonce to save the card on file. The next time the customer comes, instead of bringing up In-App Payments, you can simply call CreatePayment in your backend, with the customer_id and the customer_card_id as the source.

            As for "connecting it to the Customers API" - you don't connect it directly per se. You would collect information from the customer, on your own, and pass it directly to the Customers API to create a customer. You can then call CreateCustomerCard using the nonce (generated by In-App Payments), and the customer_id that you just created, to save the card to this customer profile.

            Someone pointed out to me that the import in notes.js should be a relative file path import rather than importing the node package. That fixed the error!

            So it should have been:

            import { auth } from ‘@/utils/firebase-admin’; in notes.js.

            Figured it out. There are non-optional properties in the eventParams object for a 'screen_view' event. Without the app_name & screen_name it produces the typescript error I described--weird how the error doesn't specify missing properties, but instead throws a misleading error.

            I know I need Fb user token for that which is I have already during fb login from js-sdk saved in DB.
