QUESTION
I'm trying to deploy my locally fine running function to Azure
- VS Code Version: 1.65.2
- Azure Tools v0.2.1
- Azure Functions v1.6.1
My requirements.txt
ANSWER
Answered 2022-Apr-07 at 13:42This is linked to and open Github issue with Microsoft Oryx.
Hey folks, apologies for the breaking changes that this issue has caused for your applications.
Oryx has pre-installed Python SDKs on the build images; if the SDK that your application is targeting is not a part of this set, Oryx will fallback to dynamic installation, which attempts to pull a Python SDK that meets your application's requirements from our storage account, where we backup a variety of Python SDKs.
In this case, it appears that the Python 3.9.12 SDK was published to our storage account yesterday around 3:10 PM PST (10:10 PM UTC), and applications targeting Python 3.9 are now pulling down this 3.9.12 SDK rather than the previously published 3.9.7 SDK.
I'm optimistic that we should have this resolved in the next couple of hours, but in the meantime, as folks have mentioned above, if you are able to downgrade your application to using Python 3.8, please consider doing so. Alternatively, if your build/deployment method allows you to snap to a specific patch version of Python, please consider targeting Python 3.9.7, which was the previous 3.9.* version that can be pulled down during dynamic installation.
Again, apologies for the issues that this has caused you all.
Temporarily try rolling your Python version back down to Python 3.8.
QUESTION
I am using the task Azure file copy
to upload the build artefacts to the blob container. But I am always getting an error as preceding.
ANSWER
Answered 2022-Mar-30 at 19:36After looking at this issue, I figured out what could be the reason. As you might have already known that a new service principal will be created whenever you create a service connection in the Azure DevOps, I have explained this in detail here. To make the AzureFileCopy@4
task work, we will have to add a role assignment under the Role Assignment in the resource group. You can see this when you click on the Access control (IAM). You can also click on the Manage service connection roles
in the service connection you had created for this purpose, which will redirect you to the IAM screen.
- Click on the +Add and select Add role assignment
- Select the role as either
Storage Blob Data Contributor
orStorage Blob Data Owner
- Click Next; on the next screen add the service principal as a member by searching for the name of the service principal. (You can get the name of the service principal from Azure DevOps, on the page for the Service Connection, by clicking on the
Manage Service Principal
link. My service principal looked like "AzureDevOps.userna.[guid]".)
- Click on Review + assign once everything is configured.
- Wait for a few minutes and run your pipeline again. Your pipeline should run successfully now.
You can follow the same fix when you get the error "Upload to container: '' in storage account: '' with blob prefix: ''"
QUESTION
I'm trying to understand how the price estimation works for Azure Data Factory from the official guide, section "Estimating Price - Use Azure Data Factory to migrate data from Amazon S3 to Azure Storage
I managed to understand everything except the 292 hours that are required to complete the migration.
Could you please explain to me how did they get that number?
...ANSWER
Answered 2022-Feb-15 at 03:46Firstly, feel free to submit a feedback here with the MS docs team to clarify with an official response on same.
Meanwhile, I see, as they mention "In total, it takes 292 hours to complete the migration" it would include listing from source, reading from source, writing to sink, other activities, other than the data movement itself.
If we consider approximately, for data volume of 2 PB and aggregate throughput of 2 GBps would give
2PB = 2,097,152 GB BINARY and Aggregate throughput = 2BGps --> 2,097,152/2 = 1,048,576 secs --> 1,048,576 secs / 3600 = 291.271 hours
Again, these are hypothetical. Further you can refer Plan to manage costs for Azure Data Factory and Understanding Data Factory pricing through examples.
QUESTION
I have two Azure accounts. And I tried to deploy the same function to these two accounts (to the function apps). The deployment to the 1st account - successful, but to the 2nd account - failed.
The only big difference between the two accounts is that I do not have direct access to the resource group that the 2nd account's function app uses (I have access to the resource group at the 1st account). May it be the reason why I can't deploy the program to the function app at the 2nd account?
Deploy output of the function app at the 1st account:

Answered 2022-Mar-01 at 08:22Sol 1 : In my case the problem was due exclusively to the "Queue Storage" function.
Once deleted from Local Sources, if I had managed to delete it from the APP Service everything would have worked again.
Sol 2: Sometimes issue in VSCode, I was building with with Python 3.7 even though 3.6 was installed. Uninstalling Python 3.7 and forcing 3.6 build resolved my issue.
QUESTION
I looked at the standard documentation that I would expect to capture my need (Apache Arrow and Pandas), and I could not seem to figure it out.
I know Python best, so I would like to use Python, but it is not a strict requirement.
ProblemI need to move Parquet files from one location (a URL) to another (an Azure storage account, in this case using the Azure machine learning platform, but this is irrelevant to my problem).
These files are too large to simply perform pd.read_parquet("https://my-file-location.parquet")
, since this reads the whole thing into an object.
I thought that there must be a simple way to create a file object and stream that object line by line -- or maybe column chunk by column chunk. Something like
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Aug-24 at 06:21This is possible but takes a little bit of work because in addition to being columnar Parquet also requires a schema.
The rough workflow is:
Open a parquet file for reading.
Then use iter_batches to read back chunks of rows incrementally (you can also pass specific columns you want to read from the file to save IO/CPU).
You can then transform each
pa.RecordBatch
fromiter_batches
further. Once you are done transforming the first batch you can get its schema and create a new ParquetWriter. For each transformed batch call write_table. You have to first convert it to a
pa.Table
.Close the files.
Parquet requires random access, so it can't be streamed easily from a URI (pyarrow should support it if you opened the file via HTTP FSSpec) but I think you might get blocked on writes.
QUESTION
If you build a library with conan and set compiler.cppstd
setting to e.g. 20
and call conan install
, the libraries are still built with the default standard for the given compiler.
The docs say:
The value of compiler.cppstd provided by the consumer is used by the build helpers:
- The CMake build helper will set the CONAN_CMAKE_CXX_STANDARD and CONAN_CMAKE_CXX_EXTENSIONS definitions that will be converted to the corresponding CMake variables to activate the standard automatically with the conan_basic_setup() macro.
So it looks like you need to call conan_basic_setup()
to activate this setting. But how do I call it? By patching a library's CMakeLists.txt? I sure don't want to do that just to have the proper standard version used. I can see some recipes that manually set the CMake definition based on the setting, e.g.:
- https://github.com/conan-io/conan-center-index/blob/master/recipes/crc32c/all/conanfile.py#L58
- https://github.com/conan-io/conan-center-index/blob/master/recipes/azure-storage-cpp/all/conanfile.py#L71
- https://github.com/conan-io/conan-center-index/blob/master/recipes/caf/all/conanfile.py#L105
But this feels like a hack either. So what is the proper way to make sure libraries are built with the compiler.cppstd
I specified?
ANSWER
Answered 2022-Feb-17 at 14:15Avoid patching, it's ugly and fragile, for each new release you will need an update due upstream's changes.
The main approach is a CMakeLists.txt as wrapper, as real example: https://github.com/conan-io/conan-center-index/blob/5f77986125ee05c4833b0946589b03b751bf634a/recipes/proposal/all/CMakeLists.txt and there many others.

Deploy Script:
...ANSWER
Answered 2022-Jan-07 at 15:01The release of setuptools 60.3.0 caused AttributeError because of a bug and now Setuptools 60.3.1 is available. You can refer to the GitHub Link here.
For more information you can refer to the stackoverflow answer as :
If you run into this pip error in a Cloud Function, you might consider updating pip in the "
requirements.txt
" but if you are in such an unstable Cloud Function the better workaround seems to be to create a new Cloud Function and copy everything in there. The pip error probably just shows that the source script, in this case the
requirements.txt
, cannot be run since the source code is not fully embedded anymore or has lost some embedding in the Google Storage. or you give that Cloud Function a second chance and edit, go to Source tab, click on Dropdown Source code to choose Inline Editor and add main.py and requirements.txt manually (Runtime: Python).”
