            I'm final student who research and implement Openstack Victoria. When I configure Project: Octavia - Loadbalancer on multi-node - CentOS8, I have a issue. Seem like octavia.amphorae.drivers.haproxy.rest_api_driver couldn't connect to Amphora instance and port 9443 didn't run on my Network Node aka Octavia-API. In controller node, the amphora instance still running nornally. I follow https://www.server-world.info/en/note?os=CentOS_8&p=openstack_victoria4&f=11 to configure my lab. This is my cfg file below, pls help me to figure out. Regards!

            Okay, my problem is fixed. The Octavia-api node can't connect to amphorae-instance because they do not match the same network type (node - LAN and amphorae - VXLAN). So, I create a bridge interface at a node to convert vxlan for lan can connect (You can read here at step 7: create a network).

            Installation Process

            I am all new to Kubernetes and currently setting up a Kubernetes Cluster inside of Azure VMs. I want to deploy Windows containers, but in order to achieve this I need to add Windows worker nodes. I already deployed a Kubeadm cluster with 3 master nodes and one Linux worker node and those nodes work perfectly.

            Once I add the Windows node all things go downward. Firstly I use Flannel as my CNI plugin and prepare the deamonset and control plane according to the Kubernetes documentation: https://kubernetes.io/docs/tasks/administer-cluster/kubeadm/adding-windows-nodes/

            Then after the installation of the Flannel deamonset, I installed the proxy and Docker EE accordingly.

            Used Software Master Nodes

            OS: Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
            Container Runtime: Docker 20.10.5
            Kubernetes version: 1.21.0
            Flannel-image version: 0.14.0
            Kube-proxy version: 1.21.0

            Windows Worker Node

            OS: Windows Server 2019 Datacenter Core

            Are you still having this error? I managed to fix this by downgrading windows kube-proxy to at least 1.20.0. There must be some missing config or bug for 1.21.0.

            I have a kubernetes service set to externalTrafficPolicy: Cluster (it's a simple nginx backend). When i try to curl it from outside the cluster it's often timing out. The loadBalancerSourceRanges are set to 0.0.0.0/0, and it actually succeeds very infrequently (2/20 times).

            I am aware that in an externalTrafficPolicy:Cluster service, the nodes in the cluster use iptables to reach the pod. So i did some tcpdumps from both the pod and a node in the cluster that is attempting to reach the pod

            Below is a tcpdump from a node that the backend pod tried to reach and send data to. (note I am using Calico for my cluster CNI plugin). 10.2.243.236 is the IP of the backend pod

            Answer: We installed Calico on the kubernetes cluster as the CNI plugin. We did not set the kube proxy's --cluster-cidr argument as we believed Calico would take care of creating the rules.

            Upon running iptables-save on kubernetes nodes, it was found that no rule actually matched the pod cidr range, and hence packets were getting dropped by the default FORWARD DROP rule (this can be verified using iptables-save -c).

            after setting kube-proxy's cluster-cidr argument, and restarting kube proxy on all the worker nodes, the IPtables rules were created as expected and services with externalTrafficPolicy: Cluster worked as expected.

            I am trying to determine the amount of resources required to forward 20Mp/s using DPDK. I'm using two FM10420 100G Dual NIC adapters to generate and forward traffic. Since I have only one server for testing, I'm generating packets using pktgen on host computer and forward them with testpmd on a virtual machine. My setup looks like this,

            However, when I run both testpmd and pktgen, I can see there is huge amount of packet drop. Following are the results captured after 60 seconds of generating and forwarding packets.

            There are multiple factors which affect performance for NIC PMD. Some of them are listed below

            1. cpu core isolation to explicitly make user-space threads to sole user of CPU core time
            2. Kernel watchdog timer callback reduction
            3. disable Transparent Huge page (especially with 1GB)
            4. firmware of NIC
            5. DPDK version
            6. vector code for RX-TX
            7. PCIe lane (direct attach to CPU give higher performance than south bridge)
            8. CPU clock frequency
            9. DDIO ability of NIC
            10. Traffic pattern (with RSS on RX-queue or FLow DIrector)
            11. Resoruce Director for preventing cache posioning.

            I highly recommend @Anuradha to check FM10K PMD capacity, BIOS, and using smap_affinity, isol_cpu, rcu_callback etc.

            Note: I have been able to achieve 29 Mpps (64B) packets using single core and DPDK example skeleton with X710 NIC.

            Based on the dig output you shared zevrant-oauth2-service-db is resolving to 92.242.140.2 but it looks like the IP address of your K8s service is 10.97.75.171 (ClusterIP) (based on the output you shared too).

            If you hit 10.97.75.171 5432 you should be able to access your Postgres database, provided that you don't have any Kubernetes Network Policy and/or firewall blocking access. Make sure you that in your Postgres config you are binding the server to 0.0.0.0 otherwise if it's something like localhost you will only be able to get to it from the pod.

            So the question is what is 92.242.140.2? Wny is coredns responding to a query to zevrant-oauth2-service-db with 92.242.140.2? Is there a DNS forwarder configured in coredns? Is there a default domain configured that is not part of svc.cluster.local?

            Will linux discard multicast packets that are not in the same subnet?

            I want to build an overlay network through VXLAN multicast to achieve communication between virtual machines, but I found that multicast packets can only be transmitted on the same subnet. In order to allow virtual machines on hosts that are not on the same subnet to communicate, I am thinking whether "capture and forward packets" would work. That is, grab a UDP packet with a destination address of 239.1.1.1 and a port of 4789 on hostA on network1, and send it to hostB on network2, and let hostB send the multicast packet. Then I found that the hosts on network2 all can catch this packet with wireshark, but no host corresponds to it. I wonder if Linux has a mechanism to discard fake multicast packets? If this is the case, how should this mechanism be prevented?

            Unhandled, multicast is essentially broadcast. For IPv4 multicast that broadcast effect can be mitigated with IGMP. On switched networks with semi-intelligent switches there may be IGMP snooping functionality to further aid in this. Provided this exists, an end-device must subscribe to a multicast group by sending an IGMP join for the given group to "unfilter" that traffic towards itself. Routing multicast between subnets can be done with PIM or DVRMP implementations, or even static multicast routing daemons.

            Only exception to this filtering is the 224.0.0.x range, which is reserved for link-local communication, usually IETF protocols. Traffic to these groups must never be filtered in any way.

            Hence, to prevent filtering, either the end devices join the group (recommended!), or you send traffic to a group in the reserved range, e.g. on 224.0.0.1 the all-hosts group. (It's ugly and you may trigger ugly bugs on devices in the LAN, but it works.)

            gopacket takes in packet data as a []byte and decodes it into a packet with a non-zero number of "layers". Each layer corresponds to a protocol within the bytes.
