I used the database first approach. The model is right (or at least it looks like) But I always get this error. Please, I've already tried so many things.. The full code of my program (and even sql script by which I create my database) is here: https://github.com/AntonioParroni/test-task-for-backend-stack/blob/main/Server/Models/ApplicationContext.cs

Since I have a mac. I created my model with dotnet ef cli commands (dbcontext scaffold) I can use my context. But I can't touch any DbSet..

You have net6.0 target framework which is still not released while you have installed EF6 which is a previous iteration Entity Framework (mainly used with legacy .NET Framework projects) and you also have EF Core (a modern iteration of it) but older version - 5.0 (which you are actually using for your context, see the using Microsoft.EntityFrameworkCore; statements there).

Try removing EntityFramework package and installing preview version of Microsoft.EntityFrameworkCore.SqlServer (possibly just updating to the latest 5 version also can help) and either removing completely or installing preview version of Microsoft.EntityFrameworkCore.Design. (Also I would recommend to update your SDK to rc and install rc versions of packages).

Or try removing the reference to EntityFramework (not Core one) and changing target framework to net5.0 (if you have it installed on your machine).

As for why do you see this exception - I would guess it is related to new methods added to Queryable in .NET 6 which made one of this checks to fail.

            TL;DR

As mentioned in the comments - update EF Core to the corresponding latest version (worked for 5.0 and 3.1) or update to .NET 6.0 and EF Core 6.

            docker run -d -it --name oracle -v $(pwd)/db/oradata:/ORCL store/oracle/database-enterprise:12.2.0.1-slim

            There are two issues here:

            1. Oracle Database is not supported on ARM processors, only Intel. See here: https://github.com/oracle/docker-images/issues/1814
            2. Oracle Database Docker images are only supported with Oracle Linux 7 or Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 as the host OS. See here: https://github.com/oracle/docker-images/tree/main/OracleDatabase/SingleInstance

Oracle Database ... is supported for Oracle Linux 7 and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7. For more details please see My Oracle Support note: Oracle Support for Database Running on Docker (Doc ID 2216342.1)

The referenced My Oracle Support Doc ID goes on to say that the database binaries in their Docker image are built specifically for Oracle Linux hosts, and will also work on Red Hat. That's it.

Because Docker provides process level virtualization it still pulls kernel and other OS libraries from the underlying host OS. A Docker image built for Oracle Linux needs an Oracle Linux host; it doesn't bring the Oracle Linux OS with it. Only Oracle Linux or Red Hat Linux are supported for any Oracle database Linux installation, with or without Docker. Ubuntu, Mac OS, Debian, or any other *NIX flavor will not provide predictable reliable results, even if it is hacked into working or the processes appear to work normally.

As @Larnu commented, Microsoft SQL Server business intelligence extensions are still not available for Visual Studio 2022.

Many people are still confused about the difference between SQL Server Data Tools used to create SQL databases projects and the business intelligence suite:

Using Visual Studio 2022, currently only the SQL Server Data Tools required to create database projects are available. As mentioned in the official documentation:

The core SSDT functionality to create database projects has remained integral to Visual Studio. The extensions for Analysis Services, Integration Services, and Reporting Services projects are not available for Visual Studio 2022 at this time.

You can note that in the Visual Studio marketplace only Visual Studio 2019 is mentioned:

            Asked 2022-Feb-12 at 09:53

Constructor injection of a logger into Startup works in earlier versions of ASP.NET Core because a separate DI container is created for the Web Host. As of now only one container is created for Generic Host, see the breaking change announcement.

Problems when writing parquet with timestamps prior to 1900 in AWS Glue 3.0
            Asked 2022-Feb-10 at 13:45

When switching from Glue 2.0 to 3.0, which means also switching from Spark 2.4 to 3.1.1, my jobs start to fail when processing timestamps prior to 1900 with this error:

            ANSWER

            Answered 2022-Feb-10 at 13:45

I made it work by setting --conf to spark.sql.legacy.parquet.int96RebaseModeInRead=CORRECTED --conf spark.sql.legacy.parquet.int96RebaseModeInWrite=CORRECTED --conf spark.sql.legacy.parquet.datetimeRebaseModeInRead=CORRECTED --conf spark.sql.legacy.parquet.datetimeRebaseModeInWrite=CORRECTED.

This is a workaround though and Glue Dev team is working on a fix, although there is no ETA.

Also this is still very buggy. You can not call .show() on a DynamicFrame for example, you need to call it on a DataFrame. Also all my jobs failed where I call data_frame.rdd.isEmpty(), don't ask me why.

Update 24.11.2021: I reached out to the Glue Dev Team and they told me that this is the intended way of fixing it. There is a workaround that can be done inside of the script though:

How to use SET XACT_ABORT ON the right way
            Asked 2022-Feb-01 at 08:14

I would like to debug it with SET XACT_ABORT ON; and the goal is to rollback everything if only one transaction fails.

But I find several way to archive it on StackOverflow like this:

            ANSWER

            Answered 2022-Feb-01 at 08:14

It is not the same. It decides when errors are thrown.

You should always use SET XACT_ABORT ON, because it is more consistent; almost always, an error will stop execution and throw an error. Else, half things throw errors and the other half continue execution.

There is a great article about this whole subject on Erland Sommarskog's site, and if you go at this point you will see a table which describes this strange behaviour. In conclusion, I recommend the General Pattern for Error Handling, as it is very well documented as well as provide you the opportunity to tweak it according to its own documentation.

            ANSWER

            Answered 2022-Jan-30 at 12:24

You can use Keyset Pagination for this. It's far more efficient than using Rowset Pagination (paging by row number).

In Rowset Pagination, all previous rows must be read, before being able to read the next page. Whereas in Keyset Pagination, the server can jump immediately to the correct place in the index, so no extra rows are read that do not need to be.

In this type of pagination, you cannot jump to a specific page number. You jump to a specific key and read from there. For this to perform well, you need to have a unique index on that key, which includes any other columns you need to query.

One big benefit, apart from the obvious efficiency gain, is avoiding the "missing row" problem when paginating, caused by rows being removed from previously read pages. This does not happen when paginating by key, because the key does not change.

            Here is an example:

Let us assume you have a table called TableName with an index on Id, and you want to start at the latest Id value and work backwards.

            You begin with:
