QUESTION
I'm building a web app using Laravel 8 and one thing I tend to struggle with is the complex relationships and accessing the data. I've started reading on hasManyThrough
relationships but I'm not convinced that's the correct way to do it for my scenario.
The app is used by travelling salesmen to check in to a location when they arrive safely.
I have three main tables:
Locations
(where they are visiting),Checkins
(where their check in data is stored, e.g. time),Users
This is where it gets a little complex and where I find myself not being able to see the wood for the trees...
- Locations have many users, users have many locations. Many-to-many pivot table created.
- Locations have many check ins, check ins have many locations. Many-to-many pivot table created.
- Check ins have many users, users have many check ins. Many-to-many pivot table created.
As such they're all created using a belongsToMany
relationship.
Now what I'd like to do is access the user
of the check in
so I can call something similar to on my show.blade.php

Answered 2021-Jun-14 at 23:46You said "Check ins have many users", you seem to want the singular user for a check-in, but currently that would result in many users. It sounds like users check-in in a many to one relationship
Also $checkin->created_at
will be by default a carbon object, so you can just go $checkin->created_at->format('jS F Y')
Also don't mix using compact
and with
, stay consistent and use only 1 as they achieve the same thing
Also $checkin->users()->name
won't work, if you use the brackets on syntax is only returns a query builder instance, which you would need to call get on like $checkin->users()->get()
, or you could use $checkin->users
which will fetch them anyway. You may want to look into using with('relation')
on query builder instances to stop N+1 queries if you want to dive a little deeper. Lastly $checkin->users()->get()->name
also won't work as your user relation is many to many which returns a collection, which again points to you should have a belongsTo relationship called user
without a pivot table
QUESTION
I have a quite a interesting problem regarding table primary key when inserting new rows to Postgres DB using Hasura. In a short summary this is what happened: There was old backend for the app that I am currently developing which used MySql database and my task was to move all of data to new Hasura/Postgress DB, so i wrote scripts that move that data and it went fine. Script inserted all of the users data including their primary keys because of user relationship with other tables. Problem occurred when i tried to insert new users with Hasura mutation:
Uniqueness violation. duplicate key value violates unique constraint "users_pkey"
What I assume happened is: My PK on users is not default type integer/auto-increment , it is:
id - integer, primary key, unique, default: nextval('users_id_seq'::regclass)
and when i try to insert new row it tries to assign it latest PK that Hasura remembers it inserted and user with that PK is already imported from MySql DB.
Is there some way to edit my table PK so it is integer/auto-increment or someone has some creative solution. Thanks in advance!

I need to assign 275 variables with the Double type. Is there a way I can paste word Double on all 275 lines at once? I have been pasting Double on each line and its tiring.(I also have to add the underscores to replace spaces in the variable identifiers. If anyone knows a shortcut for that let me know.)

Answered 2021-Jun-09 at 20:23You could use a tool like Notepad++ to make the changes you need.
I was able to convert the list you supplied by using "CTRL+H" to open the replace dialog, using regular expression mode, and replacing "\d+" with "Double":

QUESTION
Goal: I have a bunch of keywords I'd like to categorise automatically based on topic parameters I set. Categories that match must be in the same column so the keyword data can be filtered.
e.g. If I have "Puppies" as a first topic, it shouldn't appear as a secondary or third topic otherwise the data cannot be filtered as needed.
Example Data: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1TWYepApOtWDlwoTP8zkaflD7AoxD_LZ4PxssSpFlrWQ/edit?usp=sharing
Video: https://drive.google.com/file/d/11T5hhyestKRY4GpuwC7RF6tx-xQudNok/view?usp=sharing
Parameters Tab: I will add words in columns D-F that change based on the keyword data set and there will often be hundreds, if not thousands, of options for larger data sets.
Categories Tab: I'd like to have a formula or script that goes down the columns D-F in Parameters and fills in a corresponding value (in Categories! columns D-F respectively) based on partial match with column B or C (makes no difference to me if there's a delimiter like a space or not. Final data sheet should only have one of these columns though).
Things I've Tried: I've tried a bunch of things. Nested IF formula with regexmatch works but seems clunky.
e.g. this formula in Categories! column D
=IF(REGEXMATCH($B2,LOWER(Parameters!$D$3)),Parameters!$D$3,IF(REGEXMATCH($B2,LOWER(Parameters!$D$4)),Parameters!$D$4,""))
I nested more statements changing out to the next cell in Parameters!D column (as in , manually adding $D$5, $D$6 etc) but this seems inefficient for a list thousands of words long. e.g. third topic will get very long once all dog breed types are added.
Any tips?
Functionality I haven't worked out: if a string in Categories B or C contains more than one topic in the parameters I set out, is there a way I can have the first 2 to show instead of just the first one?
e.g. Cell A14 in Categories, how can I get a formula/automation to add both "Akita" & "German Shepherd" into the third topic? Concatenation with a CHAR(10) to add to new line is ideal format here. There will be other keywords that won't have both in there in which case these values will just show up individually.
Since this data set has a bunch of mixed breeds and all breeds are added as a third topic, it would be great to differentiate interest in mixes vs pure breeds without confusion.
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated! Also, I'm open to variations in layout and functionality of the spreadsheet in case you have a more creative solution. I just care about efficiently automating a tedious task!!

Answered 2021-Jun-07 at 19:05Try using custom function:
To create custom function:
1.Create or open a spreadsheet in Google Sheets.
2.Select the menu item Tools > Script editor.
3.Delete any code in the script editor and copy and paste the code below into the script editor.
4.At the top, click Save save.
To use custom function:
1.Click the cell where you want to use the function.
2.Type an equals sign (=) followed by the function name and any input value — for example, =DOUBLE(A1) — and press Enter.
3.The cell will momentarily display Loading..., then return the result.

QUESTION
I have recently sourced and curated a lot of reddit data from Google Bigquery.
The dataset looks like this:
Before passing this data to word2vec to create a vocabulary and be trained, it is required that I properly tokenize the 'body_cleaned' column.
I have attempted the tokenization with both manually created functions and NLTK's word_tokenize, but for now I'll keep it focused on using word_tokenize.
Because my dataset is rather large, close to 12 million rows, it is impossible for me to open and perform functions on the dataset in one go. Pandas tries to load everything to RAM and as you can understand it crashes, even on a system with 24GB of ram.
I am facing the following issue:
- When I tokenize the dataset (using NTLK word_tokenize), if I perform the function on the dataset as a whole, it correctly tokenizes and word2vec accepts that input and learns/outputs words correctly in its vocabulary.
- When I tokenize the dataset by first batching the dataframe and iterating through it, the resulting token column is not what word2vec prefers; although word2vec trains its model on the data gathered for over 4 hours, the resulting vocabulary it has learnt consists of single characters in several encodings, as well as emojis - not words.
To troubleshoot this, I created a tiny subset of my data and tried to perform the tokenization on that data in two different ways:
- Knowing that my computer can handle performing the action on the dataset, I simply did:
ANSWER
Answered 2021-May-27 at 18:28First & foremost, beyond a certain size of data, & especially when working with raw text or tokenized text, you probably don't want to be using Pandas dataframes for every interim result.
They add extra overhead & complication that isn't fully 'Pythonic'. This is particularly the case for:
- Python
list
objects where each word is a separate string: once you've tokenized raw strings into this format, as for example to feed such texts to Gensim'sWord2Vec
model, trying to put those into Pandas just leads to confusing list-representation issues (as with your columns where the same text might be shown as either['yessir', 'shit', 'is', 'real']
– which is a true Python list literal – or[yessir, shit, is, real]
– which is some other mess likely to break if any tokens have challenging characters). - the raw word-vectors (or later, text-vectors): these are more compact & natural/efficient to work with in raw Numpy arrays than Dataframes
So, by all means, if Pandas helps for loading or other non-text fields, use it there. But then use more fundamntal Python or Numpy datatypes for tokenized text & vectors - perhaps using some field (like a unique ID) in your Dataframe to correlate the two.
Especially for large text corpuses, it's more typical to get away from CSV and instead use large text files, with one text per newline-separated line, and any each line being pre-tokenized so that spaces can be fully trusted as token-separated.
That is: even if your initial text data has more complicated punctuation-sensative tokenization, or other preprocessing that combines/changes/splits other tokens, try to do that just once (especially if it involves costly regexes), writing the results to a single simple text file which then fits the simple rules: read one text per line, split each line only by spaces.
Lots of algorithms, like Gensim's Word2Vec
or FastText
, can either stream such files directly or via very low-overhead iterable-wrappers - so the text is never completely in memory, only read as needed, repeatedly, for multiple training iterations.
For more details on this efficient way to work with large bodies of text, see this artice: https://rare-technologies.com/data-streaming-in-python-generators-iterators-iterables/
QUESTION
I am searching for a method (package) that enables me to 'drop' a row from one table on a row in another table. The server-side functionality that I am envisioning with it is that I can create some logic that will update the destination table. Unfortunately, I have not been successful prototyping this with the packages with the available shiny packages I could find.
The idea of the MVP concept in the code below is to assign (with drag 'n drop on) one of the callers in the top table to a row in the second table.
The closes I have come to it, is the following:
...ANSWER
Answered 2021-Jun-06 at 19:48You can make an interface using {shinyjqui}
that allows you to drag cells from some
table, drop them into a different table, and have shiny update the
underlying data frame of the table the draggable was dropped in.
First we need to define our draggable and droppable in our server function.

My laravel app does not work on xampp or a live server but it works fine on the link provided by PHP artisan serve. Whenever I run this app on xampp it returns 404 error. I have other laravel apps also which work fine on xampp but this one. I am unable to find any solution to it that why my laravel is not running on a hosted server or xampp. I have tried all the solutions found in related questions but did not find any of those useful.
- I have tried running the app after changing my existing .htaccess file in the root folder.
- I have tried running the app after changing .htaccess file in public folder.
- I have tried running the app after deleting both and one of them.
- I have tried installing and updating the dependencies again using composer.
What should I do to make it running?
What I see when I try to run it through xampp is the errors, but the folder structure that always occurs when one runs a web app through it.
Right now, I have a single htaccess file which is in my root folder. Below is the code of it:

Answered 2021-Jun-04 at 07:52I've ran into this problem too. I've done some research and the only way I found possible to run Laravel on xampp was the following:
- In the parent folder of the laravel setup, I created a folder called "laravel" and moved everything inside of it.
- I went in laravel/public and took every file out of it, and I put it in the parent directory, resulting in the following folder structure: (in my htdocs)
