            QUESTION

Not able to install GWT Plugin as of May 2018 in eclipse
            Asked 2018-May-23 at 06:22

Please reply for both the issues.

Issue 1: The installation of GWT Plugin through eclipse marketplace was working fine until last month. But now as I check there is some issue. The URL http://storage.googleapis.com/gwt-eclipse-plugin/v3/release is not reachable. This url is used to install the plugin in eclipse.

Issue 2 Also I tried compiling the source code from https://github.com/gwt-plugins/gwt-eclipse-plugin. I am also pasting part of the log output for reference:

            Just use https://github.com/gwt-plugins/gwt-eclipse-plugin

This is a fork of the old plugin, but is still maintained and has a bunch of extra features.

Look at the GitHub page for documentation (also in the form of videos).

Eclipse JDT Core - Resolve generic return type for parameterised super method

I am v. inexperienced with the JDT apis, so would be great if someone could help me.

My question is how do I resolve the return type of the test method in the code below?

            ANSWER

            Answered 2018-Mar-19 at 23:39

You should first find the org.eclipse.jdt.core.dom.ITypeBinding for interface "Messages".

From there you can navigate to getSuperclass() or in your case getInterfaces(). This should grant access to the parameterized type "BaseInterface" (note, that the light-weight JavaModel consisting of IType, IMethod etc. does not support the notion of a parameterized type as needed here).

From the latter binding, asking getDeclaredMethods() should answer the desired method "String test()" with return type "String" indeed.

For further inspiration you may want to look that the internal method org.eclipse.jdt.internal.corext.dom.Bindings.findMethodInHierarchy(ITypeBinding, String, ITypeBinding[]).

How to switch off Google "Analytics Ping" in Eclipse
            Asked 2017-Sep-13 at 00:53

In Eclipse Neon I started getting a dubious background job called "Analytics Ping", if I build (ie. save a file!) or synchronise with eGIT. I believe this is due to GWT (2.8.0). It appears to be poorly implemented in that:

            1) Other background jobs queue unnecessarily behind it (it prevents me from updating/committing code!).

            2) Like many other background jobs in Eclipse, it doesn't respond to cancellation requests.

Thus, if it has problems "pinging" back, it prevents me from working (And why does it need to ping for every file save?!).

Does anybody know how to switch this off for these versions? Thank you.

            GWT maven build eclipse
            Asked 2017-Aug-02 at 20:47

I had a GWT app, and I wanted to automate its build and deploy system, since I do it manually. But I did not find a way how to build the app from command line, so it can than be automated. I had to click the Google button, then compile GWT project and then click Compile.

I found out that it is possible to create a GWT maven project and that it should then be possible to compile my project from commandline with mvn gwt:compile.

So I created a new project using this plugin. Copied my sources from the old project to this new one.

Now the structure is like this:
            /src
            ---/main
------/java -> here are all my sources including my Project.gwt.xml file.
            ------/webapp
            ---/test
            pom.xml

            Now I have 2 problems.
            1. I thought that I add dependencies to the pom.xml, and then when I build the app, it will create the jars and I can use those libraries in my GWT app. I guess 'mvn clean install' should do this, but so far I'm getting compile errors.
            2. I did not get mvn clean install to work, so I added all the jars manually again... And then yes! I was able to build the app using the plugin GWT button! So I was thinking that now I can use 'mvn gwt:compile', but it fails with:

Unable to find: "com/company/project/Project.gwt.xml" on your classpath; could be a typo, or maybe you forgot to include a classpath entry for source?

EDIT: So I fixed my element in pom.xml, so now it finds the Project.gwt.xml. I'm trying to run:

            Answered 2017-Aug-02 at 20:47

First I had a problem with in my pom.xml was missing com.company.project prefix before the actual module name.

Then I had errors in my Java files, which was caused by RELEASE version of GWT-OpenLayers 3 library missing some of the features that I previously used by building the JAR from the GitHub repository.
